Question Need Good E-BOOK website recommendations
Hi every one!
I'm new to the website, and really like what I've found so far..

I'm trying to find other great websites that offer free downloads for E-books, but it's difficult as simply googling such things turns up LOADS of spyware infested websites and its hard to know who to trust with their claims...

I'm in particular looking for books by David Wilcock, Dr. Ian Stevenson, and Dr. Jim B Tucker, as well as books on metaphysics and reincarnation... Without spending a fortune..

Any website suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

I thought there were many 'retail' books all over this website.. Are you saying none of the content offered here is offered in a bookstore? Everything I've gotten so far is.

The ebooks in this site's library are all public domain and you may legally download them for free (although it does depend, to a degree, on the jurisdiction you're in).

There's no law preventing a book store from selling you books that are in the public domain. But, it's not legally necessary to buy them. Caveat emptor.

The works of all the authors you mentioned are still very much under copyright. Everywhere. World-wide.

You will find no copyrighted books on this site. (And if you do, please let a moderator know, ASAP.)


EDIT: In this same thread you will find the topic: Kbook: My new favourite rip-off "publisher" -- a publisher that is happily selling public domain books that you can (legally!) download free here at MR.

There are a vast number of links and discussions about retail ebooks.

Occasionally someone also tries uploading retail books. Their posts get moderated and they receive an official warning. Further violations are instant grounds for a permanent ban.
I don't suggest you try it, or look for others trying it.

On the other hand, as others have pointed out, we have a large library of public domain works, most of which have been lovingly worked on by our resident hobbyist formatters.

Also, the public library is a useful source for legally obtainable contemporary ebooks.
Feel free to ask for advice about what to read.

I would also add Girl Ebooks, free, nicely-formatted editions of classic ebooks by female writers (plus some contemporary novels original to their site), all DRM free.

If you're fortunate enough to get access to a large E-book library, it's great! I live in Tennessee and the R.E.A.D.S. statewide library is awesome. They have at least an order of magnitude more sci-fi books than my physical library has. (Probably more like two orders, my local library's pretty small.) And they keep expanding it! It's also nice to be able to check out books from home any time of day or night.

Then again, they have mysterious gaps. Like they have several of Arthur C. Clarke's novels, but somehow missed the entire 2001 series. I'd have thought they'd have had 2001 over some of the other books they have. Overall it's tax dollars well spent though, and I'm surprised more states don't pool together to do one statewide library.
