Romantic Suspense used to be a Silhouette line. It was originally called Intimate Moments and covered a wide range of topics. I think it was THE best category line in the late 80s through 90s. I loved the variety and they had such a great line-up of authors.

The main difference now I think it the Intrique line concentrates more on the actual mystery/suspense part of the story and Romantic Suspense is more about the romance. Romantic Suspense also tends to have more international set stories with spies and intelligence agents. Whereas more Intrique are set only in the US or Canada. But that perception may just be based on the authors I read, not an actual rule.

Police (detectives, cops, etc) seem pretty evenly divided between them. Plus, since Harlequin bumped the wordcount back up, the Romantic Suspense stories are longer. Intrigues are around 55,000-60,000 whereas Romantic Suspense is 70,000-75,000.

Thanks for the description, very helpful. So it sounds like I'd probably lean more towards the Romantic Suspense line.

I checked my library and have a ton of Intrigue titles from the once in a life time $0.05 sale, several of which I've actually read, and only 3 Suspense titles. I will have to investigate the RS line further.

I know I've very much enjoyed the last several titles I've read form the SuperRomance line so maybe I'd like the higher word count of the RS line as well.

After the line changed to Romantic Suspense there were a few years there when the word count was slashed by like 20,000.

I know SIM became SRS in Feb 2007, then HRS in April 2011. But I don't remember exactly when the word count was cut (just that it was after the line became SRS). It went back up around the same time it switched from SRS to HRS.

Just something to keep in mind if you're looking at backlist.

All eBooks have been made available to download using any remaining credits you may have. We invite you to come use your credits on any eBooks you choose.



We are turning off the ability to purchase any additional credits and 6-packs on the site.
You will have until August 23, 2015 to use the credits you have in your account.
All the books that are currently on the site will still be available, but we will not continue to put up new releases.
You will still be able to purchase books on the site with PayPal, though credit card purchases will not work anymore.

Yikes. I think I still have 3 credits. Good that I have until August and that I can use them on any book on the site.

Not sure what went wrong with the site. When they started I thought it was exiting. That was when you could use one credit a month and had to renew at 6 month to stay in membership, or how I remember. Then they started to sell the 6 pack all the time and I think that took some of that urgency out of it. To pick that one book a month. Or was it 2. I can't even remember how the beginning was. I also bought quite a few on sale when they had them.

Curious what they are planning on doing next.

Thankfully I only have 1 credit left. I loved the idea of the site, I just didn't awlays like the selection of books available.

I checked and I have 5 credits still there. . I thought it was 3. I kept putting them off as I was waiting on something I was interested in. I'll have to browse through and see what I need.
A couple I would want wont' come out until April 7 and of course they said they aren't going to put any new stuff up, darn it.

I wonder if it didn't take off the way they'd hoped. Just this weekend, I was trying to find out if there as an announcement about this month's books. The last time the blog was updated was 9/2013. If I remember correctly, the sister Facebook page was equally behind schedule (although it might have been a little more up-to-date than the blog).

They wanted it to be a social place for folks to hang out and chat about authors and books.

Speaking only for myself, I wanted it to be a place with interesting books without DRM. The credit prices per book were very nice, too. I couldn't give a hoot about the social aspects.

In the latest DA post Jane Litte has 'come out' ('come clean'?) and announced she's been writing under the name Jen Frederick. Anybody read her? I have to be dragged kicking (well maybe not kicking considering I'm contemplating a knee replacement) and screaming to read NA, only because for me it seems so long ago and I can't relate.

It's funny as I've looked at some of her books and found the blurbs interesting, but then didn't buy because I'm not a fan of NA.
