Best browser for Kindle HDX?
I just got a previous generation Kindle Fire HDX 7". I see a few browsers out there that look good. One is - of course - already installed. But I'd like some input on others that people seem to like. I know there isn't one perfect one; but I want help from others that have some experience of having gone through some trials and tribulations with what's available.
Thanks in Advance; Curt |

Please post to the correct forum.
The GENERAL FORUM (where you posted) is for "General discussions about e-book reading not specific to a device, software or format." Mobileread has a forum specifically for the Kindle. Your thread has now been moved to the KINDLE FORUM. Don (Moderator) |

Dolphin HD supports flash so it is the closest to a full-power desktop browser.
Chrome is okay but not significantly better than Silk unless you use it on your phone and desktop. |

I use Firefox. I downloaded it direct from the Morzilla site using Silk. I've synced it to my laptop so I have access to all my bookmarks.

I really do like Silk, but Dolphin HD is my second favorite.

Thanks guys. Those two are the ones I'm battling over in my head. And there may be others as I see more opinions.
#1 - I've heard/read about Dolphin more than any other tablet browsers in my travels. And nothing but good. Lots of ability to configure. See below. #2 - Also; I'm a FireFox FanMan. [Look, at 55 years; the word 'Boy' has been dropped by the wayside many moons ago.] But that's FF on my PC. I want to see how it translates to a 7" tablet. Big difference. Then again; all the years of fine-tuning I've kept with FF might blend in well with the Small Screen. I like the ability to configure. There are drawbacks to having more control, but I like to have things just the way I want. Precision over speed. Or; 'Quality Over Quantity', I guess. I'm thinking FF as the simplest way to have exactly my parameters mirrored. But Dolphin is more of an empty pallet to build new ones within the zone of a screen 1/4 the size. Could my FF be too busy for 7"? With my eyes now, this might be a consideration - they are not what they were 20 years ago. But can I turn my back on old faithful? I'm seeing myself using both in a run-off. Or keeping both. We all use browsers for different jobs. And I use 3 on my laptop. No rules. And that's what I wanted when I posted. I wanted to deal with a battle of Top Players - like 2 or 3 or more. I didn't want to download 10 or 12, and have to sort through the garbage and lackluster, when there's so many of you out there that have actual real-world experience. Also, I believe that those browsers that are considered 'best' by most, have probably had the most time and effort pumped into their development. And those, in turn, deserve the attention. And it's not laziness, but logic. I have occupations and hobbies that I am expert in. And when asked, I thrill at giving info to those that might not yet be in my fields of endeavor. When I have no idea, there's others that have the past knowledge to hand over. Beautiful system. Thanks again for your time. [I can't believe how long this post turned out.] Curt |

Well, I've kind of ignored Silk, 'cause it came-along. Now I'll give some attention.
Never even heard of Pale Moon. Another arrow in the quiver. They're all going to have to bring sunbeams streaming from the heavens if they are going to break my FF habit completely. But, as I said, I know I'm not going to be using one browser exclusively. Thanks again. And please keep 'em coming. There can never be too much information. Curt |

I love the "reading view " in silk. I've been hooked ever since I tried it. Silk runs very smooth on the hdx, but have me tons of trouble in the 6 inch fire HD.(not sure why)

Firefox has a reading view as well, which I like to use from time to time. Also, I love Firefox's extensions, many of which work on mobile devices.
