I know it works with QT-environment. What components of QT must be installed to make Calibre work on XP_sp3_32 ?

Calibre 2.x is unreliable on XP for many folk so Kovid blocked XP installation to avoid never ending Bug reports
![]() IIRC there were some 'how 2 on' XP tips for those who run from source. Bug reports for 2.x on XP issues are no longer appreciated ![]() |

The problem is that Qt itself does not support XP (even service pack 3). calibre includes everything it needs to run (no separate Qt install is needed).
Until/unless the Qt developers decide to fix Qt on WinXP, nothing can or will be done. I predict they will do so just as soon as Microsoft re-enables support for WinXP. ![]() For more details, see the thread that exhaustively discussed the issue: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=245069 If you are willing to run from source and try it anyway, instructions are here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...5&postcount=61 (edit this file: https://github.com/kovidgoyal/calibr...i2/__init__.py) Alternatively, depending on the fix you need, see this: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...34#post2976934 Last edited by eschwartz; 03-15-2015 at 03:38 AM. |

Alternatively, you can upgrade your computer.
![]() ![]() And Microsoft *won't* continue providing security updates (unless... they do anyway? ![]() If you don't have the money to buy new hardware, there are other options for the mildly adventurous. Why not give linux a try? Ubuntu is getting quite popular these days. Personally I favor Linux Mint (the desktop is much friendlier, and closer to what one would expect coming from Windows). ![]() Menu is clean and a bit like what you were used to seeing. Besides Calibre and Sigil Open/Libre Office, Firefox can be added (I believe that neither is now in default instal) |

Both are still default I believe.
