Me too. I more or less consider them expendable. It's cheaper to buy a new printer with included cartridge than it is to get refill ink cartridges.

Yeah, but this is going to be one of those big purchases. I'm trying to decide between an HP CM2320fxi and
a Canon MF9170c

They both have their points. I think the Canon would probably be better, it certainly is more expensive, but I would like to see where they stuck the alternate paper input tray on this machine. And, naturally, no one has images for it that you can rotate, or images of anything except one side or one angle.

Erk. I think I will work on my bookshelves for a bit and think about it.

Right now, I'm discovering I spend too much time here (Mobile Read and/or the llounge) when I find I've answered "The blue one, next to the fish, of course" on another, completely different forum, in answer to the question "which hammer?"

I have decided not to edit my reply, as there's a bunch of silly sods over there, too.
