I don't have a TBR has such, though I do keep a list of things I might look out for on my next shopping binge.
My habits tend to be more like DiapDealer - without the musical overtones - I read according to mood and whim. And my mood often takes me back to re-read good books. This is one of the reasons why I still love my large paper book collection, I like to sit back and gaze at the collection until my eyes settle on something that matches my mood. My book shopping habits tend to be similarly mood driven. My re-reading habit has developed to the extent that my rating system these days is based on how likely I am to re-read a book. 5s are favourites that will get revisited every few years. 4s are always a possibility to re-read if I'm in that sort of mood. For 3 and lower it's mostly "so long and thanks for all the fish". (1 being books that I wish I hadn't read the first time - only seven of them in the 10 years or so, so the mood-thing seems to work okay for me.) |

My TBR is big, and re-read 50% of the time (mostly Harry Potter)

I'm a rereader as well. As others have mentioned, i reread earlier books in a series, in prep for a new release.
I also reread many of the old favourites others have mentioned (LOR, etc). The comfort list also includes Dorothy Sayers, A Christie, and a few other mysteries. Oddly, they're still a pleasure, though the 'mystery' has been solved. |

I re-read when I was younger; there are some books I read and re-read so much as an adolescent that I've still pretty much got them memorized. I mostly don't any more, however, with the exception of book club books or other particular reason.
The notion tempts me, though. I contemplate having a year when my particular challenge would be to re-read favorite books and the classics. It won't be this year or next, but perhaps the year after? |

Mine too but I try to limit myself to 20% re-reads. I will sometimes re-read more than that within a part of the year, but overall I do fairly well. In past years I would have 80-90% re-reads (before my Kindle).

I've always reread - Jules Verne and Kipling's Kim when young for instance, and I still do. And I still reread my favourite children's books: I bought the Moomin series again for instance - in any case my yellowed paperbacks' type have become too small for me.
It works as comfort food / escape when very tired, or travelling, or in a waiting room, or ill, or just plain blue. But I also tend to rush through a book to know the story, and then take my time rereading to savour everything else. It is especially appropriate for poetry, and some outstanding fiction and non-fiction deserves taking time like poetry. |

Yes rereading old favorites is like spending time with old friends, leaves one with warmth and pleasure.
