				Recommendations - Omnibuses

Last year I asked advice for finding good 500 paged books. By now I've read a few of the suggestions. Others are tbr while some don't look promising at all. Keeping an eye for next year's reading challenge, I want to modify my routine.

I'm poised to read the Wool omnibus soon, and I'd like to know similar options. To avoid people recommending me War & Peace, and The Count of Monte Christo, and even LoTR, I'm asking you to come up with omnibuses that are not classical literature, are not literary in nature, and clock at at least 600 pages in any format except large print...Go. |

For other omnibuses, I have the Hunger Games omnibus which was a very good deal at Amazon a while back, well below what it is right now. I have also added the King Raven Trilogy (a retelling of Robin Hood) by Stephen R. Lawhead to my library wish list which has a >4 rating on Amazon, but haven't had a chance to read any of them yet. |

How about the Malazan Book of the Fallen Omnibus? Just about 8000 pages

But I would say it is literary in nature (but I have no clou, what exactly you mean by it. Merely beeing classic? I don't see any other connection on the three books you mentioned. And two of them are more like adventure books).

These are most of the books in the In Death series by J.D. Robb. I've read all of these and they are quite good.

You can also get George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire in a 5 book bundle for less than $20. The series isn't finished though.

I'm very encouraged with Barry Hughart's book, I read the first In Death books, I didn't like Roarke, and have read the first four GoT books. Thanks again guys. Remember, if you know of a good series outside of fantasy, feel free to recommend them.

The more left field the genre, the better. E.g Horror, YA, middle grade(like The Book of Amber), humor etc. |

If you like space opera then there's also the seven books of her Serrano Legacy series which are available in three omnibus editions from Baen. |

1044 pages, as listed at Amazon, equates to only about 622 real pages. A thick book, I'll admit, but it's not "1,000+ pages," unfortunately. ![]() "Give me a thick book or give me death," - Dr. Drib ADDED: But wait! I just pullled up my ebook copy and I see 2828 pages, which would indeed make this an over 1000-page tome. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 03-15-2015 at 08:10 AM. |
