Firstly, as PeterT said, convert your MOBI's to ePub. While reading MOBI's on the Kobo firmware works, it is much more likely you will have problems than with epubs. Simple MOBI's will be OK, but larger more complex won't. As a simple test, I put four MOBI's on my Aura H2O last night. The first one I tried opened, but when I turned the page, it closed and marked the book as finished. The others opened and paged OK. I have seen this happen with MOBI's before. I have no idea what is wrong with it, but converting to ePub gives me a readable book.
As it works for a known good epub, the 1% read problem indicates something wrong with the ePubs you are using. I have seen it somewhere in the past, but I don't remember what the problem was. Doing an ePub-to-ePub conversion in calibre will probably fix it. I suspect if you edit it in the calibre editor or Sigil, you will find a lot of errors. Or some very strange formatting, If the conversion doesn't fix it, then we'd need to see the books. That lets someone else test them and see if they have the same problem. Then we can look at them to try and work out what the problem with them is. |

1. Not had a not working 'complex' Mobi experience yet - but i clock the advice convert Mobi to epub. and reconvert broken epubs to epubs.
2. Just going through the epubs currently on my device - i am seeing that they are working with the % read - - though not sure yet how accurate that is - you're right it's the mobi which is the issue. Just one last thing i noticed, slightly off topic; on some of my epubs - the page refresh is happening every page for a couple of them when the reader setting is set to 'refresh every chapter' - is that a format tweak i can correct in calibre or somewhere ? Seems like the formatting has indicated every page as a chapter or something ... would i find a thread in these forums to a definitive guide to best settings when making epub files using calibre or whatever - again a newbie to this activity also. That last query should complete this enquiry. Thanks everybody - great forum . ![]() sp |

What version of Kobo f/w are you running on the Aura? I know there were some bugs in some of the recent builds that affected the per chapter refresh setting. (And I'm not sure if that bug was fixed in 3.13)

f/w level is displayed in Setiings | Device Info
The problem is Kobo tend not to release updates to all devices at the same time, so although it is a new device, and has just been updated, we don't know what level you are at ![]() |

That is a version where the chapter refresh setting was not working properly.

I don;t even remember what version had working chapter refresh. Just wait a bit and there will be a version that handles it correctly.
Worry more about reading and less about some of the problems ![]() |

Hi Snaz, while you wait for a firmware update that sorts this update bug, you may want to set it to refresh every n pages (instead of every chapter) since that works fine. And you don't have so many annoying flashes.
