Actually, it would be useful if you explained what you did to correct the problem, for the sake of future users who come here looking to correct the same error. Even a simple "Whoops, had typo in <whatever field>" can be of help...

Well I'm pretty confused. You are using the latest version of FFDL and I tried it on my end with the very same version and seemingly can't reproduce the problem -- the update date is always scraped properly, in every scenario for me. Did you possibly change the skin settings in the site preferences at some point? If yes, do change them back to the default ("blueberry original") and try again. If that isn't the case, try deleting the story from your library entirely and downloading it again and let us know what happens.

I changed the skin back to blueberry Original I think Im going to do what you said and delete the story entirely and redownload it to see if that helps. Really not sure why Im getting this error in the first place everything seems to be ok in my setting from what I can tell. |

If you actually had changed the skin that's most likely the problem. It would explain the missing metadata (which I had) in your traceback and other things. You need to keep the skin at its default value for eFiction-based sites.

I think you are right about the skin cause I removed the old URLs and changed the skin. Issue gone thanks for that. |

This unfortunately looks like a problem with your internet connection or the server you are trying to download from. The screenshot looks like it came from a netbook or notebook possibly: make sure that your WLAN connectivity is at a healthy level. It's not something on the adapter level that can be easily fixed, I'm pretty sure. The only advice I have for now is to simply retry downloading the stories until it works.

Another possibility is that your wifi access point or local router or switch maybe failing. I had an ethernet switch slowly fail recently that gave all kinds of weird problems. But it's something in the networking, not FFDL.

Tried it with my phones hotspot and it works, so it seems the home network is the problem. Don't know if it's the router, as we got a new one recently, or if it's Comcast being Comcast, as I've had times where my internet has gone from 35 down to 5 down.
Edit: Nevermind, it seems I just got lucky. Doesn't work with the phone either. Edit 2: Tried Uninstalling and Reinstalling Plugin. Doesn't work either. Edit 3: Tried Get Story URLs from web page, got actual error message: calibre, version 2.20.0 ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>IncompleteRead</b>:IncompleteRead(3623 bytes read, 819 more expected) calibre 2.20 [64bit] isfrozen: True is64bit: True Windows-7-6.1.7601-SP1 Windows ('64bit', 'WindowsPE') ('Windows', '7', '6.1.7601') Python 2.7.9 Windows: ('7', '6.1.7601', 'SP1', 'Multiprocessor Free') Successfully initialized third party plugins: Favourites Menu && FanFictionDownLoader && Reading List && Search The Internet && EpubSplit Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre_plugins.fanfictiondownloader_plugin.ffdl_ plugin", line 450, in get_urls_from_page_menu File "calibre_plugins.fanfictiondownloader_plugin.ffdl_ plugin", line 466, in get_urls_from_page File "calibre_plugins.fanfictiondownloader_plugin.fanfi cdownloader.geturls", line 63, in get_urls_from_page File "calibre_plugins.fanfictiondownloader_plugin.fanfi cdownloader.adapters.base_adapter", line 338, in _fetchUrl IncompleteRead: IncompleteRead(3623 bytes read, 819 more expected) Last edited by Czarcasm; 03-10-2015 at 07:21 PM. |

Chances are your WLAN hardware is failing then or the server isn't responding properly, as previously mentioned. It has absolutely nothing to do with the plugin, there's no need to reinstall it.

I am using the most recent version (2.14) of FFDL and it keeps losing my settings. It loses my custom column (status). The personal.ini keeps being reset to default so I lose what tags I want saved. It removes my settings for the reading list plugin.
It's an install of Calibre, ver 2.20 on Windows 7. The only unusual thing about how I use it is I have a virtual library set up for my fan fiction. Any idea why this is happening? |

Losing plugin settings sounds like a bug in the initial release of calibre 2.20. This was fixed and rereleased a day or so later. I would suggest download calibre 2.20 again and installing it. Hopefully that will fix it.
