From Sigil to Kindle Previewer Conversion Problems!

Why isn't the kindle version appearing the same way as seen in the Sigil version? The kindle version is aligning the text to the left.

I have never tried to open an epub in Kindle Previewer, though I would have thought the result would be the same. (I upload to the KDP and let it convert there.)

You can center an image in Sigil. Have you tried it there? |

This is not a Sigil question. This is a "how do I make an epub that will convert to the Kindle book I want it to using Kindle publishing tools" question.

Besides ... without the relevant html and css, nobody can really offer anything other than guesses. |

Anyone preparing eBooks for anything beyond personal use will want to distribute both on EPUB based systems and on Amazon. So how to prepare compatible code in Sigil is very much on-topic.

Once you have a "I need to do this to my epub—can Sigil do it and how do I make it do it?" question ... then this is the place. On topic: Quote:

There's always going to be a bit of crossover here or there, but this particular question is very much representative of the latter example. Last edited by DiapDealer; 03-03-2015 at 08:34 AM. |

Sigil is an EDITOR, A tool only. One of many EPUB Editing ones available. How to make an EPUB or one to work with 'X' is an EPUB question. |

Didn't realize how low res the image was, I have attached the image to this post. Here is the code that's in the sigil window. The problem is when it is converted into kdp the text is aligned to the left and I don't understand why.

I'm sorry, could you elaborate a bit more on that please. What is leading space? What is the correct leading space.

See? Once you gave them a bit of code to look at, they stopped worrying that the destination was going to be a Kindle and got interested :-)

![]() Now, once we get the leading space in the class-name taken care of, perhaps we can see the other half of the equation (namely the applicable css). And to be fair ... I don't really care that the destination was a Kindle--namely because as far as I'm concerned, a correctly formatted epub IS the destination. There is no other "destination" as far as Sigil is concerned. The question should have been "what is the 'correct' way (or current best practice) for centering images in epubs?" Still not really Sigil territory, per se, but at least it's firmly on middle ground. Last edited by DiapDealer; 03-04-2015 at 01:49 PM. |

Of course, there's no such thing as a "correctly formatted" ePub. There's one which displays well on ADE, one Lulu will accept (and Lulu can be PICKY), one that suits Aldiko on an Andriod tablet etc. etc. "One that transcribes well to Kindle" is only a small further step.

And by the way ... I make and wear ALL kinds of footwear. I don't discriminate. But neither do I ask the company that makes my leather-working tools why the shoes I made with them are raising blisters on someones feet. Last edited by DiapDealer; 03-04-2015 at 04:33 PM. |
