There is a rare ebook format that can only be downloaded to a tablet. Its for interactive books. The example I found of this was The De-Textbook by cracked.com.
I actually paid full price for the book, and it was not cheap. Only to find I had no way to read it. It would not download in my desktop app or on my daughters Kobo Touch. And Kobo wouldnt give me my money back either.
Eventually I got a tablet and was finally able to read it on there.
I cant remember now what the format was, and I cant check as I cant even remember what that account I used. I think at the time I was trying to use a single use code that I'd already used on my main account so I opened a new account just for that book. When the code didnt work I just bought it anyway.
Its not coming up for me when I search for it on Kobo so maybe they dont sell it any more.
I do remember it wasnt clear to me at all before I bought it that I wouldnt be able to download it anywhere except on a tablet though.

Typical, as soon as I clicked to post my message, I remembered the account details I used. I just logged into that account and the book is still listed in the library, but there are no options listed to download it (I dont think there ever were) and nothing to indicate what format the book is. When I click on the title I get a blue page saying "Sorry, this item is no longer available. You can look for other items by this author or about this topic using the search bar above"
Musing aloud - If I was to delete the book off my tablet, I wonder if I would be able to get it back again?

Oh, and just in case anyone is wondering, the book wasnt worth the money and the hassle.

Adding insult to injury: I got coupon emails that are blank, no coupon value. And now it's 9pm ET and the contest is closed. Damn my busy day.

Sorry murg, �� but that was the first 55% I ever got. I am alway too late, and I also got 35% or less from the contests. So that is a happy dance for me ��.

My normal coupon routine is to do some of them everyday and then most of the accounts, I do in bulk the last day - because of the error/ending it early - I don't have near as many codes to share as normal.

I got nothing better this contest. Based on anecdotal evidence, I wonder if the odds were worse than posted.

I get that Kobo no longer wants to give away the store, but it's not worthwhile to go through the nuisance of the contest just to get a coupon that'll knock the price down to Amazon's. I prefer epubs, but I detest dealing with Kobo when things go wrong - as they frequently do.

Seems to me too. I only have 150 to go by, but that still pretty good for checking odds... certainly better than the 10 they allow.
10% slightly higher
20% more than twice as high
25% considerably lower
30% a lot lower...almost 1/2 of what it should be
35% less than 1/3 of what it should be
45% none, when should be 1 at least
55%, 65%, 75% odds too low to guess, but 0, so NOT higher than odds.

So that meant I was higher than odds in the first 2 (lowest) categories, and lower than odds in the next 4 categories and N/A in the top 3. That isn't evidence, but if others are similar, particularly people who played a lot, doesn't look like fair play by kobo. Not that we can even complain since we're only supposed to have 10 entries as evidence...
