Are you using T68?
Can you connect to the Internet after the update?I found there's some problem with my wifi-connection(cannot surf the Internet anymore) on T68.

I tried to upgrade the firmware on an Onyx Boox M96Universe. Current version is 2014-09-12_00-43_1.6.2_41be89. But the update.zip from the http://ereader-store.de webpage is more recent. Nevertheless copying on the root, as checking for local update does not found it. Does someone have the same problem?

The arta tech onyx boox M96 Universe is not firmware compatible with ereaderstore unless you do this: Move your M96 to Booxtor's firmwares and/or Unbrick and Rooting Method. If you do this, you will lose the guarantee.

Is it correct that the M96 and T68 do not have a resetbutton? When I try to reset with a paperclip in the little hole, nothing happens and I don't feel a button.
It seems there is nothing, no button.

How to reset?

if i'm not wrong you only have to push the on/off button and keep it pushed for about ten seconds...

Been there. Done that. The manual says that's the reset button but I don't think it does anything.

I do believe this is the way to reset even though I've never seen it documented anywhere. At least it's always worked for me.

Hello everyone.

I'm a proud M96 owner as of today (thank you, Booxtor!) and I can really see myself getting along with the device pretty well once I'll be used to it more.

I will mainly use it for reading and annotating pdfs and this is where I encounter a problem I don't seem to be able to solve:

Many of my pdfs are scientific book scans in landscape mode (two book pages on one pdf page). I thought that the navigation function on onyx neo reader would be perfect for first displaying the left half and then the right half of the page (in portrait mode). But whatever navigation mode I use, and whether I use the page turn buttons on the left of the joystick to the right, it doesn't work the way I think it should. The page turn buttons just jump to the next pdf page (so an entire book page is flipped over) and the joystick pans the picture about 3cms to the right but doesn't completely jump to the second half of the page.
I tried to see if it worked better when turning it all to landscape mode so the page would have to be shown in four jumps, but no luck there either.
I had the same problem with a dual column portrait pdf but I pictured it had to do with that specific file.

So. Is this a bug? Is there any remedy to it yet (meaning I'm doing it wrong)? Or would that have to be addressed in a future update?

Edit: Actually I just tried out if hitting the screen with the stylus in a page-turning manner made any difference. And it does! So this way, it seems to be working, but not with the joystick. I'd be glad though if the joystick could do the job as then I could turn pages while leaving the scribble function open.

... and I want to report on some behavioural aspects of the system I've been noticing so far.

Neo Reader:

- I still cannot use the joystick to navigate through the navigation preset but have to click on the screen with the stylus

- scribble menu keeps popping open or close without any obvious reason

- sometimes, things seem to become unresponsive (joystick, page buttons and menu button don't do anything). I then have to click on the screen to open the scribble menu, close it, and only then the keys work again.

- sometimes, the eraser tip acts as a pen.

Library:

- "now reading" only appears when M96 is allowed to scan the whole device. I think that with the initial firmware I had, even with "scan books folder only" enabled, it showed also "now reading" pdfs that weren't placed in the books folder.

General:

- I've had quite a few app crashes so far. Mostly the google play store and sometimes the neo reader. Haven't used much more so far. But I think it's worth mentioning.


My wish list:

Neo Reader:

- Getting the scribble menu either out of the way (maybe by just leaving a little icon in a corner) or smaller. Right now, it's impossible to scribble at the bottom of the page or to read the bottom of the page when the scribble menu is open. So the process of closing and opening it every page is a bit tiresome. Especially in landscape mode it's taking up so much of the screen. I think it's totally sufficient to access the scribble menu through the menu button btw. no need to have it open all the time.

- getting to use the joystick to navigate through pdfs AND/OR:

- finding some other clever use of the big pen options. For example stylus tip always in scribble mode, stylus tip + side button = eraser, backside of stylus for navigation or panning.

- I'd love to have the selection zoom to work the way i've seen it in many videos: drag a rectangle around the part you want to zoom into. Especially that the selection box is square and centred to begin with doesn't make so much sense to me. You have to move at least one side of the selection and then move the whole selection around.

Library:

- Some way of placing folders there or to custom the opening page so to see the "storage" menu rather than the library. I organise my pdfs around different research subjects. There's really no use for me to have them placed in some random order on my welcome screen.

Thank you very much, Booxtor, for putting so much effort in development and improvement of the OS and the apps. I'm excited to see where all this is going. I've only had the M96 for three days but it's already been very helpful to me.

I do not have neither a M96 nor two-paged-PDF file to test, but did you tried to set various modes under the "Navigation" menu (icon with eye and arrow)? For example Z-like mode?

Yeah I did: Clicking on the display with the stylus produces the desired behaviour. The joystick doesn't.

It did on one book I looked at for testing, though. That was a standard pocket book sized text pdf version of a book that didn't need that tool at all. But there, frustratingly, it worked.
