Also, it's compatible with Misfit and other track-your-movements-and-graph-them apps for fitness and people who like to quantify exercise. |

Yep, I just used mine for exactly that now, my iphone tends to stay on silent mode and I just check my Pebble for calls and texts...

Me either, to be honest. Smartwatches that are not really smart but somewhat retarded, and certainly limited in function and usefulness? Especially after seeing that CNET video where the non-stock video, that is the video CNET actually shot as opposed to video given them for promotional purposes, the screen looks really dark and difficult to see. If it is backlit, then the wearer will need to backlight it often indoors. Even the more robust Android and iOS watches seem like a gimmick to me. Hell you could put an LCD screen on a dog turd and convince a bunch of geeks to buy it! These things seem more like an impulse buy where someone gets excited about a new toy, purchases it, gets bored with it in a few weeks or even just days as it doesn't do much, then it winds up collecting dust on a bookshelf.

I was a backer on the original version and jumped on the Pebble Time the minute the gates opened. It is a tremendous piece of useful technology at a very good value. As an avid cyclist, the ability to view incoming phone calls, texts and emails allows me to determine which, if any, require a response. Instant weather updates, loads of apps for all sorts of activities are excellent. More importantly, the Pebble team is continually updating and enhancing functions and features.

I'm one of those people who never hears his phone and the phone is always elsewhere in any case... the Pebble allows me to not miss calls and, quite nicely, not bother anyone else if I do get a call which I might not answer while in a meeting.

Also, the watch acts as a cycling computer. That alone pays for the cost of the watch! Anyway, to each his/her own! |

I'm one of those people who doesn't even use a regular phone never mind a cell phone. My husband and I traded cell phones (we get temp phones for travel and the like). I couldn't even figure out how to ANSWER the damn thing when it rang! Send button? This little dash above it? There was no "call" button like the one I was used to. I mean, sure, I can figure this stuff out. I'm not non-technical, but note to self: Figure the basics out BEFORE the call comes in...

I want a standalone smartwatch that has WiFi, mSD, speaker and uses Android apps like Audible, Pandora, etc.

Pebble Time really requires a smart phone - at least to setup the time (face) and install apps. Otherwise you can use it without a smart phone but then it is super limited.

My "dumb phone" only costs $3.33 a month with texting. No way am I spending $50 a month to have internet on the go just to have a cool watch. |

Pebble have proved themselves with their first kickstarter. This way they are getting the payment in advance for the new model and dont have to use their seed funding and they can judge the demand so could negotiate with their suppliers better.

I expect them to cross 20 million easy. Personally I am interested more in LG urbane [Image violates guidelines for size - MODERATOR] To me these days watches are more like jewelry than a utility. So this is what I am more interested in. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 02-26-2015 at 08:17 AM. |
