The book is not in My Library because I didn't buy it. It just showed on the front page as being in My Library.

I did not buy the book, I only viewed the info page - and now on the home page that book shows as 'View in library'. Of course when I view in my library it's not there, because I didn't buy it. That is, it's not in my kobobooks.com web site library, nor Kobo Desktop for PC (so no kepub version) either.

I just went into the Aus site again to check out whether there'd been a change of status with respect to the book showing as being in My Library, and there's been a change of status to the pricing of the Daily Deal:

So, they may have fixed one problem, but they've created another .....

No Daily Deal in Aus this morning ..... perhaps it means that the feature is being worked on.

(That is, there's no dialogue box showing the Daily Deal, and when you click on the Header: Daily Deal .... A Great ebook every day! ...... Get it now

Exactly. If you don't want Kobo to have high book prices, then don't reward them by buying the book at their inflated prices.

Shop around. If you go along with being 'locked in' when there's no reason to, then the price you pay is on your head. If Kobo can make more money charging higher prices, that's good business for them.

Shopping around is absurdly easy in this digital world. It's hardly onerous to push a few buttons or click a few times in order to get a better price.

Make competition work for you!

the book is discountable at Kobo Aus, but there aren't any codes that you can use to discount it. I can't see the reason why Aus and NZ aren't included in the monthly Contests.

Hmmm...it's $14.99 for me on both Amazon and Kobo. Google is also $14.99. I'm in the US.
