I love my Fire Phone. It makes a great eReader, music, Phone, and PIM. I do keep books block when I am not using them otherwise they all show up on my Carousel. All 12,000 of them. I use Moon+ Pro to read on instead.

I love the 6" size of the HD6. I held it next to a co-workers new iphone 6+ and the size is almost the same, with the HD6 being a little wider. Perfect size for small e-reader/video device, and it's smaller than my paperwhite2.

I do love my HD6 but the 16GB storage just isn't enough. I've just bought a 64GB HDX 7. Yes I know about the blue edge and I'm okay with that, plus it's been reduced in the UK and I can get an official case at a quarter of the original price, so for me it was a good deal. No doubt a new version will be out in September but it will be dearer and the cases will be full price.

Cool - low prices do have a way of influencing purchases

I wish they'd make an HDX 6 in 16-32-64GB versions. I'd get 32GB.

It will be interesting to see what they do do with the 6, as it does seem to be a very popular size.

I was thinking of selling my 6 now as I'm very happy with the HDX but hubby likes the 6 (he plays games) so I've stripped it of everything but his games, plus he can read and watch prime on it so he's having it.

This is my HDX screen. I think it's very good, the blue is certainly a lot less noticeable than I thought it would be. The screen is a white notepad (it's not as uneven in real life)

I've just got the 8GB version. I have no idea what I'd do with more storage. Like I mentioned in a previous post about the Fire HD 6 ... if it wasn't for Amazon Prime I wouldn't be interested in a tablet at all. The Fire just makes it easier to use Prime features for me. Maybe that view will change, I don't know. I did load the Nook Reader on it (from GetJar) and will probably load the Kobo software as well.

I like to store my books and audiobooks on the device, as well as adding music videos and music. I am paranoid about running out of storage. I also want to download prime shows for UK holidays when I don't have access to wifi.

Yes, storing video locally is what really eats storage space. I download a lot of programmes from the BBC iPlayer, and an hour-long programme is typically around 350 MB, so 3 such programmes uses 1GB.

I got my mother the 8 GB. She just uses it for library books and Amazon books. She hasn't even used Flipboard or anything yet. So 8 GB is perfectly sufficient for her needs.

My girls and I each have 16 GB Fire HD 6 tablets. I can't see any of us needing more than that. They never got close to maxing out the 32 GB Nook HD+ that they have. Their 16 GB Nook HD tablets get the most use and they have never reported running out of space. And they are app hogs.

Odd. The Nook software from GetJar installed without a hitch. But when I try to download the Kobo software, the Fire redirects me to the Amazon Market, where -- of course -- the app is not available. Was I just lucky to get the Nook download?

I think my usage would more closely match hers -- and I don't even know what Flipboard is. I do like and use EverNote. But, if it turns out that 8 GB is insuffient (I don't expect it) I'll just have to upgrade to a different Fire. Maybe Amazon will release a 6" HDX version, as TubeMonkey mentioned. I would definitely rather have a 6" device. I would even go smaller 5" or 5.5".

Probably my biggest issue is that I just don't understand all that the Fire will do. I'm just realizing that I can download Prime media. Until now I've looked at the Fire as an online "consumption machine" -- which is probably how I'll use it mostly anyhow.

Because it uses a lot less storage space, and standard quality is (to my eyes) entirely satisfactory, quality-wise, particularly on a small screen. Heck, it's absolutely fine on my 32" TV, let alone on my iPad.
