The train I take down to London currently has a replacement bus service part of the way due to a landslip on the line. This morning, I caught the bus that connects with the 9:06 train and it arrived at the train station at, 9:06. Still, I was able to wave goodbye to the train I should be on and I do get to sit in a crappy waiting room for half an hour waiting for the next train. Which is nice!

Grr.. Another contact lens bit the dust.
Went out this evening after putting lenses in. Felt I was not seeing as well as I should, and when I made it home a few hours later could not find the right lens at all ![]() These are hard lenses and cost around $250 cdn each. Luckily I have a previous set here (slightly different prescription) and am currently giving them a good clean including protein removal from them. The hards are required due to my eye condition, kerecatonis, which I have in both eyes. You can think of kerecatonis as severe astigmatism which is caused by the shape of my eyes; cone shaped as opposed to the standard spherical. This condition makes fitting of lenses more challenging, and the prescription of regular glasses impossible. |

I'm sorry about your contact lens, Peter.
This is a rant of the severest degree, I'm afraid... My niece is in a drunken stupor and threatening to leave. She's packing her clothes with a bottle of Bud Light(?) sitting next to her... She has nowhere to go. Earlier, while passed out at a bus stop, someone stole her bag (and wallet) again. And now she's threatening to leave... and commit suicide. It's time I focus on growing spiritually--learning as much I could about meditation and spirituality to get myself out of this rut--to get myself out of this house, as disabled as I am (with my hands and all). I need spiritual guidance and I suspect the answers are within. What was it that came to me the other day? *searching Aphorisms thread* "Meditation helps you seek your higher self." I hope this is true. I'm putting aside my 2015 Annual Reading Challenge List--a majority of the things on that list and focusing, instead, on growing spiritually... simply growing spiritually, reading a few books along the way, and moving out of this house. Hi trichobezoar, I am sorry that you are stressed over your niece. It sounds serious, my advice would be to call a suicide hotline in your area, and explain your niece's behavior to them. Then they can tell you what do to do get immediate help for her. Usually a call to a hospital that can observe your niece and evaluate her there. Then they may prescribe anti depressant medication, and recommend her seeking a local AA meeting as soon as she is able. Getting help is the first step and it may prevent a suicide.
I also commend your seeking a spiritual path to get through your stress with your niece. I hope everything turns for the better soon for you & your niece. ![]() |

I swear this cat is going to drive me to drink. Well more. To recap; Arwen got out 2 weeks ago this past Friday. I had some workers here and a door was left open. Their absence was discovered about 2 hours later. Strider was ready to come in immediately (oh yeah, and it was dark), but Arwen went on a pretty brisk walk about. The closer I got to her, the faster she went. Finally she went under a fence along a really steep part of my property that borders what I refer to as one of the coyote freeways. I knew going down there then was fruitless. Over the next 9 NINE days I'd call for her, no joy. Then last Sunday morning as I was getting ready for work, there she was outside the catio. I dashed out sand many items of clothing, I saw her go in and out of many places but couldn't keep up. That day she was sited at least 5 times on my property. I go out with bribery food. Last week she was sited at least 2 times a day on my property until Wednesday. I was loaned a live trap, put all sorts of stinky cat attracting goodies in it. Again no joy. The raccoons in the attic weren't even interested. I go again for another 4 days no sightings. Then she pops up last night. Sigh |

Today was stressful. She's acting like nothing happened... I just spoke to one of my sister's about what happened last night. She's willing to help me move to New Mexico in May or June. Hopefully I'll be ready by then. |

I'm sorry I haven't responded until now... My ASUS laptop gave out on me a few days ago. I spent the whole weekend installing Windows 7 Ultimate on my machine. To make matters worse, I had to do a few system restores yesterday while learning the new version of Advanced SystemCare Pro (ASC). I do not recommend ASC 8! ASC 7 is good... It's excellent, but 8 sucks! I finally figured a way around a glitch(?) in the program, restored my operating system to an earlier date and uninstalled ASC 8. I found the ASC 7 executable file online somewhere, downloaded it and installed it on my laptop. Also, I created a Windows 7 virtual machine on my Macbook in case anything went wrong with my ASUS again. Been busy the past few days. And my hands... God, I need to rest them!
Thank you for your prayers, badgoodDeb. You're in mine, too. I had a heated discussion... Well, really an argument with a relative yesterday about my niece's and her mother's behavior. I'm tired of discussing histrionic behavior with histrionic people. It's one thing if they're being honest with themselves and sincere--true to themselves. It's another thing if they're dishonest and closed-minded. *shaking head* No wonder why my niece has a hard time being honest--it runs in my family. I'm thankful for Albuquerque AA. It taught me how to be honest--rigorously honest. I need to go back and finish working through the 12 steps in Albuquerque if I could--with my hands and all. I can't write like I used to. I could barely write a paragraph or two now. Anyway, to answer your question, Wodin. I haven't spoken to my "sponsor" about it. I rarely see him... I don't like working with him as much. He's very knowledgable of the Big Book of AA, but his quality of sobriety isn't the same as recovered alcoholics in Albuquerque AA. Yes, I used the term "recovered". For a good reason... I wish I could go into details, but my hands are hurting a lot. 'Need to type as little as possible. To make a long story short, he does agree that I have to move out of here as soon as possible. It's just a matter of resting my hands, organizing my stuff when I could, fixing my car and saving money. "Just"... lol Thank you for your concern, Cromag, Wodin, Wearever, and badgoodDeb. You're all in my thoughts. |
