Coffee in water makes the water dirty and not nice to drink.

My dad was in the Navy, and always drank his coffee black with a pinch of salt in it, which is a very old naval custom.

This might sound strange, but salt goes amazingly well with oranges (not juiced). Try it out, put a bit of salt on your plate and dip the orange with a tiny bit of salt.

Not so strange. There's a nice salad with orange, onion and dried cod, oil and salt.

Cowboy coffee always has salt. Maybe it takes out some of the acid/bitter. I do know you're not supposed to be able to taste it

it's entirely possible i just put in too much salt. i went with 1g salt per 22g coffee grounds. i'll try to knock it down to 1/4g salt tomorrow and see how that goes.

I added salt to my coffee for a few days without noticing. We were on vacation in a flat we rented. Usually I drink tee, but this year we had a new Senseo coffee pad machine with us. So I just started drinking coffee and so I used to add a bit of sugar and used the sugar cup standing in the kitchen. It was just a few days in our vacation when I noticed that some funny guy who rented the flat before us exchanged the sugar with salt. I have to admit that it didn't taste bad. It wasn't just that sweet that I expected. And this was why I finally noticed: I added a bit more of that "sugar" and then it was awful. |
