I may try on the last day and see if I can get a decent code in case something very enticing comes up in the following week, but right now, there's nothing pressing on my wishlist that's couponable at Kobo. However, several of them would be couponable if Kobo carried them, as Amazon does for Kindle. One of them, in fact, shows up as a prebuy, but with no price and no date. I hope I've learned my lesson with Kobo and avoid this kind of hinky book in the future, even if they decide to sell it to me take my money for it.

It's looking as if the only deals in my future are using the buck off for slow shipping at Amazon.

What if they gave a contest and no one came?

I always think I don't have any books...and then I find one or two. The one I want this time if 5 dollars so I'm holding out for 50 or better. The 10 percent I got yesterday is not gonna cut it!

I still have plenty of (expensive) books I could buy that are couponable, so send all those useless 75% coupons you guys get my way, please!


ed: except I just looked one of them up (US store, definitely couponable before) and I'm getting the same thing mentioned above, where using the "eligible for promo codes" filter shows 0 books

The book I want still shows eligible. So go ahead and send ME the 75 percent off extras!!!

Does anyone know if Perkopolis still works for 10 percent off Aura? The first page says Canada only with a question mark. I think Perkopolis only works for BOOKS in Canada, but I thought it worked for the Aura too?

For what it's worth:
- I did get an email notification from kobo about the Books on Film contest, US store
- I was able to play in the US, CA and UK stores
- No mystery plays for me (i.e. someone had already answered the trivia question on my account)

So far, my largest coupon is 30%. I've got 10 books on my wishlist. I'm crossing my fingers.

Seriously, thanks. I don't read indie, though. The books in question are somewhat pricey mainstream-published non-fiction tomes, just not agency. Kobo used to carry most of what I wanted, but I'm coming up with bupkes right now.

Mind you, I'm not upset. I've got plenty to read and if I can't get 'em from Kobo, there's always the library or paper or Kindle option. I just wonder if Kobo is focusing more on popular books or if this is just another instance of Kobo's being Kobo.

Indie or no, retailers rarely turn DOWN books to carry, especially online. They will, in my experience, turn down paper copies (Not mine either--those of trad authors. Even trad authors have to make certain numbers to be sold in stores). It's more likely the publisher decided not to work with them for whatever reason. I know some small publishers don't find it worth their time to upload at all the various sites. There is a lot more maintenance than is obvious--there's taxes and whatnot that can be a bit unwieldy especially if it's a foreign country (you don't get neat 1099s sent to you). Keeping up with changing requirements and double-checking prices and categories, etc.

Or...it could just be kobo being kobo!
