Lightspeed Magazine's Queers Destroy Science Fiction Kickstarter has 3 days remaining, and has now unlocked the Queers Destroy Fantasy special issue. Their latest update tells what you can get from various reward levels, quoted below:

Quote:
If you pledge $5 or more:

You get the DESTROY SF! Reward, which includes:
  • an ebook of the Queers Destroy Science Fiction! special issue of LIGHTSPEED
  • six back issues of LIGHTSPEED
  • three back issues of NIGHTMARE
  • three back issues of FANTASY
  • mention of your support in the magazine
  • an ebook of a “Queer Fiction Sampler” anthology edited by LIGHTSPEED publisher John Joseph Adams
  • an ebook of our additional special issue, Queers Destroy Horror!
Plus, if we unlock our final two stretch goals:
  • At $40K, you’ll also get our additional additional special issue, Queers Destroy Fantasy!
  • At $50K, the abovementioned “Queer Fiction Sampler” will become a full-sized “Queer Fiction Anthology” (20-25 stories)
All told, that’s more than $50 of value for pledging just $5!
Note: They've now hit $40k, so the first additional goal is unlocked

Quote:
If you select one of the NIGHTMARE subscription options, you’ll get:
  • Everything mentioned in the DESTROY SF! Reward above
  • An ebook subscription to NIGHTMARE
  • PLUS, NIGHTMARE issues #1-33, and your subscription will begin with #34 (July 2015). (If you already have issues #1-33, we will substitute FANTASY issues #1-58.) [additional $66 of value!]
Note: Nightmare subs start at $24 for a one year subscription.

Quote:
If you select one of the LIGHTSPEED subscription options, you'll get:

  • An ebook subscription to LIGHTSPEED
  • PLUS, LIGHTSPEED issues #1-61 (including the Queers Destroy Science Fiction! issue), and your subscription will begin with #62 (July 2015). (If you already have issues #1-61, we will substitute FANTASY issues #1-58.)
    [additional $115 of value!]
Note: Lightspeed subscriptions start at $36 for a one year subscription.

This is just an insanely good deal.

16 SF/Fantasy/Horror magazine issues for just $5 is indeed an insanely good deal. ($0.32 per issue)

I've laid out the $36 for the Lightspeed subscription, so I extend my existing subscription by a year (12 issues), get the entire Fantasy Magazine back catalogue (58 issues) and the three special issues and the extra anthology. At least 74 SF/Fantasy magazines for $36. A very decent deal indeed. ($0.49 per issue)

Thanks for the heads up. Of course I went a little crazy with this since they also have the add-ons available. Got the subscriptions for both magazines (plus back issues for both since that is unlocked), and the Fantasy back issues. Excellent value!

I went with the $36 too, and will also get the Fantasy back issues. I never used my credits from last year's Kickstarter so I'll still have 12 credits in the Fantasy store though. Going to be kinda useless with them not publishing it anymore.

I've also enjoyed the updates this year, the different stories from people about being queer and what scifi/fantasy meant to them growing up have been quite fascinating. I'd recommend everyone check them out, you may find them interesting too.

I went with this option. I pledged the same amount last year, but haven't gotten around to reading any of the issues yet. ^^;

I just realized that if you pledge at the Lightspeed level, you get everything in the Destroyer level which includes three issues of Nightmare and Fantasy. So in fact the math is 73 + 4(special issues) + 6 (nightmare and fantasy) for a total count of 83. Not a bad deal at all.

Free again from the author via KDP Select @ Amazon (linkage for the lot):

Jeremiah, Terrorist Prophet & New America & The Inheritors by Michael A. Smith, in his Jeremiah Trilogy of sfnal techno-thrillers involving an extremist religious cult and their attempts at a creating a separatist colony and a genetically-engineered Armageddon, originally out from Tor's Forge imprint in 1998 to 2000.

These expired unexpectedly early the last time they got posted and apparently someone wanted them then, so hopefully they can grab it today.

In this first book of a trilogy, Jeremiah, who claims to be a modern-day religious prophet, begins killing the "evil ones"--pedophiles, bullies and rapists, prison inmates, stock market manipulators and crooked politicians. At the same time, he progressively publishes on the Internet a new book of the Christian Bible revealed to him by God. It demands strict adherence to God's commandments: "Obey or die!" is the general rule. Jeremiah urges his followers to create a "New America" in the Dakotas, where believers will implement God's revised plan for mankind.

Smith also offers a new self-published biotechnology melodrama, if you're interested: Lightning's Child

This is really quite the bargain, but I just haven't been reading that much short fiction lately, so I am having a tough time deciding whether it's worth it to be to get another 60+ magazines.

It's also $2.99 at Kobo and Barnes & Noble. It's couponable at Kobo, if you can find one you haven't used (35% off is worth $1.05, for a final price of $1.94).

Faith by John Love - $1.99
Amazon US | B&N
Quote:
Moby Dick meets Duel in John Love's debut novel of Space Opera and Military Science Fiction! Faith is the name humanity has given to the unknown, seemingly invincible alien ship that has begun to harass the newly emergent Commonwealth. 300 years earlier, the same ship destroyed the Sakhran Empire, allowing the Commonwealth to expand its sphere of influence. But now Faith has returned! The ship is as devastating as before, and its attacks leave some Commonwealth solar systems in chaos. Eventually it reaches Sakhra, now an important Commonwealth possession, and it seems like history is about to repeat itself. But this time, something is waiting: an Outsider, one of the Commonwealth's ultimate warships. Slender silver ships, full of functionality and crewed by people of unusual abilities, often sociopaths or psychopaths, Outsiders were conceived in back alleys, built and launched in secret, and commissioned without ceremony. One system away from earth, the Outsider ship Charles Manson makes a stand. Commander Foord waits with his crew of miscreants and sociopath, hoping to accomplish what no other human has been able to do — to destroy Faith!

Last chance to get in on Lightspeed Magazine's Queers Destroy Science Fiction Kickstarter with just two hours remaining. Full details in this post. They've hit $50k in funding, so the final stretch goal is now unlocked!

Having done their Kickstarter last year I can tell you that they get the back issue bonus rewards out pretty quick. That Kickstarter closed on 2/16/2014 and by 3/11/2014 I had my logins to get my back issues.

Red Country
by Joe Abercrombie

is today's Kindle Daily Deal. It can be downloaded for $2.99

http://www.amazon.com/Red-Country-Wo...ds=red+country

Below is the blurb:
They burned her home.
They stole her brother and sister.
But vengeance is following.

Shy South hoped to bury her bloody past and ride away smiling, but she'll have to sharpen up some bad old ways to get her family back, and she's not a woman to flinch from what needs doing. She sets off in pursuit with only a pair of oxen and her cowardly old step father Lamb for company. But it turns out Lamb's buried a bloody past of his own. And out in the lawless Far Country the past never stays buried.

Their journey will take them across the barren plains to a frontier town gripped by gold fever, through feud, duel and massacre, high into the unmapped mountains to a reckoning with the Ghosts. Even worse, it will force them into an alliance with Nicomo Cosca, infamous soldier of fortune, and his feckless lawyer Temple, two men no one should ever have to trust . . .

RED COUNTRY takes place in the same world as the First Law trilogy, Best Served Cold, andThe Heroes. This novel also represents the return of Logen Ninefingers, one of Abercrombie's most beloved characters.
