Does that make sense? It's quite a different sound to" do" in a UK voice but it's difficult to show in writing.

From looking at old poetry, I get the impression that at one time the words 'move' and 'love' must have rhymed.

They are actually called eye rhymes. Used quite a bit really. Always drove me nuts because I find myself mispronouncing one of them to make it work.

I really feel for people learning English and trying to make sense of pronunciation - there isn't any.

Those four words would make up part of an odd sentence. "A few people sat in a new pew eating bowls of stew. "
