Hey RCR.... You funny! But come to think of it, every thread dissolving down to food isn't really a problem. The real problem is how often we casually discuss "long pig" recipes!

Well, sure. Then you take Joe, and cook him down a bit more into a nice creamy gravy, and put him on cutlet of Jim. Problem solved.

Oh, heavens ... I would be most unhappy if Buddhists were expected to be vegetarians. I do try .... really, I do .... but I am horrible at it. And, there's nowhere to buy really good edamame around here.

Now, I'm hungry .... and craving Roast Jim with Joe Gravy and a side of soy beans.

We actually did a "long pig" experiment in one of my cultural anthro classes back in the 70s. It was all voluntary, of course. I donated a piece here and there ... it was really interesting.

Still have the scars on my butt as a matter of fact (although they have faded ....)

If you use some marmite/marmot to season the Joe gravy, would you stir it in while cooking or add it at the end? Some things get bitter when overcooked, you know. The best parts of the gravy are the bits scraped off the bottom of the pan.

(Where is that mailman with my Zoloft refill?)

Marmite = too salty = do not add
Marmot = add at the beginning
Bits scraped off the bottom = in this case probably Joe's teeth = do not eat

Cannibal?? Moi?? Oh, yes .... I suppose since I've done the deed, I've got to fess up to the title. Hey, if push comes to shove ... I'm surviving. End of discussion.

LOL! I'll be right there beside you, sharpening a stick "for defense against willdlife." There can be only one.

So seriously, I used to bite my nails and stuff, which is awfully close to cannibalism, but did y'all cook yourselves or anything? Or was it Tush TarTar? And did you trade lunches or eat your own?

We filled out forms in which we indicated:

1. Whether we would be willing to donate a portion of our buttocks;
2. Whether we only wanted to taste our own, or would be willing to partake of a fellow volunteer;
3. Whether we had any objection to volunteering flesh for the consumption of a student who did not volunteer their own; and
4. Whether we wanted to opt out of the experiment entirely (no impact on final grade either way).

However, only the prof and the TA knew who got what, so if you opted to try another person's donation, you did not know who it came from.

It was cooked. It had to be cooked .... to many potential diseases from eating any flesh completely raw (I can't even eat most sashimi because I know too much about what can go wrong).

It was essentially a seminar course on alternative eating habits of various social groups. We also tried grubs, scorpions, ... you name it, we probably ate it (although, again .... no one was forced to eat anything, the grade was based mainly on your research paper at the end of the quarter).

Did you know that in some societies, cannibalism is considered the best way to honor your dead? The idea is that your consumption of their flesh keeps them alive inside you and then alive inside the person who eats your flesh on your death. It's an interesting take on immortality and life after death. That was the topic of my research paper .... comparing that view to the Christian ritual of the Communion. I got an A+ .... still have that paper around here somewhere. Also got an A+ on my paper about the Oreopithicus (for my physical anthro seminar).

Heh heh .... "sharpening a stick" .... best defense against the pointed stick?? A banana!!!
