so you really need a drag and drop interface? How is that better than a simple KUAL button to upload all or whatever? Just don't see a need for more, I guess.

Hi all - needing help!

- I try to use dbuploader.
- Problem: I got stuck with an error messaging when running the dropbox_uploader.sh script the first time. After "... Looks ok?" and hitting "y" I get an error message:

TOKEN REQUEST...
ERROR: COULD NOT RESOLVE HOST.

- I am able to ssh into my Kindle Paperwhite over a WIN XP machine (putty, driver installed)
- I am very new to Linux, have not ever done this stuff (ssh, ...)
- App for dropbox created with proper app key and app secret
- I have proper writing permission with the command "mntroot rw"
- Command used for starting the script:

mnt/us/extensions/dbuploader/bin/dropbox_uploader.sh

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like you have no internet connection (or no DNS setup, or ...). On the Kindle, check that you turned WiFi on. Also check whether "ping www.google.com" successfully pings Google.

@peterson

Thank you. It was the missing internet connection. I did not know, that internet connection is neccesary for the setup-routine.

In the end I managed to get a working dropbox synchronistaion which is very convenient!

I use the tool for beeing able to send ebooks and documents from my ipad to Kindle Paperwhite without need of a PC or a cumbersome email workaround.

A.

Awesome! glad it works for you. I recently got my first smart phone (iphone) and just might use this to sync some of my books the same way...

Hi Brianinmaine,

Topic is really old by I have been trying for hours to use your script. Finally i made it work but i am getting this error now:

> Token request...
Error: Couldn't resolve host.

I am guessing that it may be because dropbox changed token adress?

Thanks

There is an arm binary for btsync:

http://www.getsync.com/intl/de/download

Which would give you a similar functionality with (probably) verry little effort..

Ok i just tried the version installed on my Kindle Touch and it works - I did a dropbox listing, anyway through an ssh shell. Do you have wifi access on the Kindle? Can you ping google.com? At the moment, I am sshed in through my laptop to my Kindle, my laptop is connected to the internet through my iphone hotspot, and the Kindle is connected to to wifi through the hotspot also. Does this make sense to you? From previous posts in this topic, it appears you might not be connectedf?

Let me know how you make out - I'll try more things if you can't!

Here's a free cloud storage with unlimited space!

Anyone know anything about it?

BrianInMaine, I haven't looked at your script yet, but how general is it? Would it be easy to port to something like JustCloud or GoogleDrive or some other cloud storage?

It seems to be a very competitive field right now, and DropBox is not among the those offering the most for the least.

A command line utility supporting the major cloud storage protocols, that could be scripted, was posted to this forum some time ago.

I forget how it is tagged, but BrianInMaine tested it, so might recall its name.
Or
It might be indexed in the master index.

There was program - cadaver?? that is a webdav client that works for some clouds like box.com -
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=224514

Also, the script is not my script at all, I just found it and packaged it for my Kindle and shared how to do it. I think the credit should go to the author!!
https://github.com/andreafabrizi/Dropbox-Uploader/

I really don't see much need for cloud space - I have plenty but rarely use it. I've got a local copy of thousands of books, but I've never bothered to upload them anywhere. I'm just pointing out that if YOU want something, DO it! Search on here and the web, there are tons of programs already written that can be made to work with little effort. If you get stuck, ask specific questions and someone might help.

Duh ....
It seems my memory played me wrong about most of the details.
BUT
I remembered your name.

Note:
The i.MX6 devices **should** run the applications built for the K5.

Hi guys,

I am a basic Kindle Paperwhite (1st gen) user, jailbroken, KUAL installed.

I have instaled @brianinmaine 's final version ( dropboxuploder.zip) but I am getting the enclosed error.

Basically its asking for bash.

Can somebody please describe how to install dropbox uploader step by step?

There is already a "bash" file in the archive from @brianinmaine, yet when i use bash instead of "sh" it still doesn't work.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best.
