I've been listening to a scribd book for the last few days during my commute. Half the time I start playback, the book seems to jump back to previous chapter. Judging by this thread, safe to say the app needs work.

I've been listening to my first scribd audio so far I don't have complaints, but I'm listening on the pc (at home and work) I always has picked up where I left off, the only time it didn't went well was because I was having trouble with my wifi conection, but I connected with the cable and problem solved. I tried to download it to the tablet but with no luck, but since my tablet is an old and cheap one I'm not surprised it didn't work. I just ordered a samsung galaxy tab pro so I hope when it arrives It will be easier to keep listening to the audio.
I'm on my second trial period until the end off the month but I think I will keep it, I prefer to read in eink but I think with the new tablet the reading experience will be better then with my actual tablet, for me it is great value for my money since in this trial period I've read at least 30 books, I'd need a lot os 90% coupons from kobo to be able to buy this many and beat this. |

I cancelled my free 3-month Scribd trial two weeks early. Never used it. My public libraries provide me with plenty of audiobooks.

The app still needs work but my wife and I are enjoying it. They have some stuff our library doesn't, but not sure it'll be worth keeping once our free period is over.
I was just invited into their beta program, so maybe I can contribute to improving the app. |

Margins and line spacing is all I want and I would be very happy.

I did use Scribd, but now I've gone through most of the audiobooks that interested me enough to listen to but not quite enough to buy. Generally I would much rather buy and keep books. ETA: Scribd canceled my account within an hour or so of my canceling the automatic payment. Oh well. Last edited by Catlady; 02-03-2015 at 06:58 PM. |

I just tried canceling on Scribd. I chose "other" as my reason for canceling, and it asked me to enter a reason. I wrote about the horribleness of the Android app, and it gave me the option to extend my subscription for a week. I went ahead and did so, perhaps now I will finish the book I started in November.
but probably not. |

I listen to Scribd audio books almost every day. I absolutely love it. They even get new releases. I am listening to a book that they got on the site just a few days after it was published (Crouching Tiger, Forbidden Vampire). To me, it is well worth subscribing to Scribd just for the audio books. Next up, more of the Joe Ledger series!
For reading, no. Nothing beats Moon Reader Pro. |

Want to join. But I find that their Android app needs 4.0.3. or above. Sorry, I am not going to buy a new phone, so that I can use their service. Maybe there are less than 10% people who use an old version of Android, but they should not be ignored.

Actually I think that number is considerably higher than 10%. Nonetheless, I think the sentiment is utterly wrong. If your old version is working for you, that's awesome. Keep that phone out of the landfill and resist the disposable mindset as long as possible, for sure. But dont expect the world to waste dev resources for you, slowing progress for everyone else. You want new, upgraded features, expect to need a new, upgraded device. There are cases of needlessly forced obsolescence to be sure, but Moore's Law -driven open source mobile device tech isn't automatically one of them.
