Pretty Library Carousel Ideas?

I have something like 4k books in my Calibre library now (addiction? what's that? I can quit anytime!) and have been pondering a nice way to put the covers on a rotating display (ideally away from the computer, i.e., NOT as a screensaver) in the house somewhere as one-part Pretty Library Feels and one-part "Hey, remember all the books you still haven't read? Get on that!" because I'll be honest that things are getting bought and forgotten about in a way that paper books didn't/weren't.

I spent much of the weekend uploading all my ebook cover.jpg files from Calibre onto a card to insert in a digital picture frame we had lying about unused, but disappointingly the digital frame in question was not programmed to rotate or resize-to-fit so that ended up being a wasted effort.

Has anyone managed a "rotating" (i.e., timed rotation that changes every 30 seconds or wev) display with a specific brand of digital frame or an android app on a cheap tablet? Or come up with other clever ways to display library titles away from Calibre running on a desktop? I'm fishing for clever ideas.

(Also, hi! *waves* I still exist! I know, I'm shocked too, how've ya'll been, much hugs for everyone.)

I have a old Winbook
It will randomize, Cross fade effects.

Dig deep into the settings. The options are not always obvious

BTW when I say:
Rotate , I think of portrait/landscape
I think you want a 'Slideshow' either by sequence or random

Since most of my covers are portrait, I hope your frame scales to fit (I expect that your fram assumes landscape and has no provision to Rotate if the frame was mounted portrait

The NOOK Simple Touch has a file for images to use as a kind of screensaver.

It wouldn't be hard to load cover images into that file. Then the e-reader would be making its own suggestions!

I just tried it with 45 books
I used Save to disk (EPUB) /single folder
with cover as a separate file (this is set in Preferences) so all the photos have a title/author

My device ignores the books but you could use the command prompt

DO NOT USE ON YOUR LIBRARY
Code:
E: (the drive letter for the sdcard)
del /S *.epub <this walks the sub folders
to get rid of the books

Further update:
I put 4500 covers on the SD Card (~302MB)

Poor old Winbook wheezes and the main menus are so slow that it makes the US Postal service look like a rocket
But it works (and looks pretty spiff)

I manage to get it into a 2 Up (2@ 5x3" covers showing) mode with each half alternating a change

One thing you can do is find a program that will allow you to do batch operations on a directory of images. Then you can batch rotate them all and you won't need to have a frame to do rotating. Then put the frame on it's side. Most frames do resize so the pictures don't go off-screen.

Welcome back. I hope you stay.

Glad you are still around.
You should write more grim versions of classic happy fairy tales.
