A happy owner of the Kindle Voyage wrote a blog post about it.

Yay! I love my Kindle Voyage too. I usually have my nose in my Kindle for two hours every evening - so the improvement in the clarity means a lot to me, too.

I wholeheartedly agree with all his points. The KV is the best Kindle I've ever used (and I've owned four). The price is really high, though, but well worth it for me.

Perhaps worth noting that the price is considerably lower than the earlier generations of Kindles. It costs half what the Kindle Keyboard did on its release, for example.

I paid the bargain price of $359 for the K1 in 2008.
![]() I paid $189 for the keyboard in august 2010, but it was the 3G/wifi version, not the wifi only version. I got the wifi only with the Voyage. Didn't the K2 cost $289? I skipped right over that one from K1 to K3 so I don't know anymore. I wasn't really happy with my PW1 and I am very very happy with my Voyage. For me as a voracious reader and someone that just wants the buttons to change pages, its worth it. The text clarity, the swiftness compared to my PW are also worth it. Would I have loved to pay less? Sure. But it is what it is. I get a lot of work out of my kindles. My K1 still works by the way and so does my KK. I also have the last basic kindle with buttons. I just don't seem to like non lit kindles anymore for extended reading. I guess my eyes are going downhill. I think its a matter what is important for one. I have never seen a PW2, but if the screen is better than the one on my PW1, I am sure its a nice device. But I wanted page buttons again and now I have them again. So happy. This is what I wanted, a lighted kindle with page buttons and then some. ![]() Last edited by Atunah; 02-05-2015 at 03:48 PM. |

I think that each of us needs to attach a dollar amount to each of the refinements that amazon made in the voyage then add up all of the amounts and add perhaps $40 for the enjoyment of having something new then if that total goes over the cost of the new model then buy. The amounts are subjective so what is is enough for you will not necessarily be enough for me. At the moment my paperwhite is having some issues, although its not dead yet, so I am willing to settle for a tad less in refinements. I will wait and see what the 2015 model look like and make a judgement if its enough. If amazon takes the 2014 voyage and calls it the 2015 paper white, then upgrades the 2015 voyage to be better than the paperwhite I will probably buy the 2015 paperwhite. I like the refinements in the voyage, its just that I am not sure I am willing to pay that price for that item, charge me the paperwhite price for it and you got yourself a deal. The fact that my paperwhite is having issues sweetens the deal. This is all very subjective.

My K3 was £109 and I bought it at launch. I just checked my order. I think my Sony PRS-300 (my first e-reader) cost about as much as my voyage does. However we have a lot more choice now. We don't have to pay £169 for an ereader we can buy a cheaper option so I can't really complain.

Perhaps I'm getting mixed up? Was it the K1 that cost $399? That's the figure I had in mind.

Yeah, the K1 came out at $399, though a post or two back (or in another thread where the same discussion is occurring?) somebody got it for $349 when it had a discount of some sort applied.

I passed mine down to my Mum. It still works, but only barely. She has passed it down to another friend.
