Was on a walk today with the two Dobes and they had an ugly skirmish. First time to this level and drew blood. Got back to the house and they both laid down for a nap.

Evidently it's even smaller than in the photos at Amazon, but on the plus side one of the optional accessories you can order with your tank is flame-throwers.

AWESOME. I totally want that. For the flamethrowers alone. My neighbors--in rural terms, the folks that live 1/2-mile down the road, who persist in trying to bring suburbia (6' tall block walls, the whole schmear, wrecking our open Sonoran desert/Tonto National Forest/New River Mountains lifestyles and views) to our NOT-suburbs neck of the woods--would go apes**t. Woot.

I like the first Spiderman cast, especially the actors who played Aunt May and "Jolly" J. Jonah Jameson. The Jameson actor in particular was uncanny in his resemblance to the comic character. I like continuity. I like seeing the same faces from film to film until the actors get too old for the parts. True, Spiderman 3 was a travesty, but that's because (1) they screwed with the legend in a major way by making the Sandman responsible for the death of Peter's uncle, (2) they attempted a feel-good ending by having Peter say in effect, "Oh well, you killed my uncle in a hold-up, but everyone makes mistakes. Love ya' anyway, big guy," and (3) with two villains on the loose, the movie wasn't more exciting, it was just more cluttered and our credulity strained even more. Why do movie makers persist in the mistaken belief that more equals better? Haven't they ever heard of the principle that less is more?

Speaking of which, does anyone remember the wedding of Sue Storm and Reed Richards? What should have been an unforgettable milestone was instead the lamest issue of the Fantastic Four ever. The writers accomplished that feat by having every super villain the Fantastic Four had ever fought attack the team in unison. The only way our heroes survived the attack was that Mr. Fantastic at the last minute invented a super-villain vacuum cleaner that sucked up all the bad guys in time for the wedding. Sheesh. SUPER-Sheesh!

Nope. Though they did kill one of the main cast in the second Amazing Spider-man... which, although it does mirror events in the comics, felt a bit too soon... they still had an on-going story that will now never be resolved.

From what I can gather, that remake has been put on indefinite hold. Apparently the studios are wary to invest in the production's $100 million estimated budget after Depp's recent flops.

There IS a God, after all.

I mean...I'm all for lots of things. Tons of movies that can be remade, up to a point, but certain films should not fall in that category. William Powell and Myrna Loy's Nick and Nora should be sacrosanct. It's akin to remaking Casablanca (and yes, thanks, I know that Barb Wire is a remake thereof. I don't mind BW; it's a humorous thing, all in).
