Need a replacement to the Kindle DX for my Dad

The one I gave him died and he is really missing having a book reader. I am trying to decide on getting him a Paperwhite or a Kobo Aura. The issue is that I usually send him books to read from here in China to Canada (where he is) and Amazon makes it quite simple to do so. However, the Kindle does not connect to Canadian libraries. How simple is it to send files to the Kobo wirelessly and from a different country?

Also, he has arthritis and now has big thick fingers. How well will he be able to use the new touchscreen readers? He liked the buttons on the DX but I know that buttons seemed to have vanished forever from readers, which is a shame.

Any advice?

If your budget stretches to it, a Kindle Voyage? Nice hi-res screen, and buttons (of a sort).

Getting back to the Kindle DX:

If its' the DX-G [Graphite], and if it 'died' in the sense that the battery has died, then you may wish to replace the battery.

Was the Kindle DX easy for him to hold, with his arthritis?
Was it too bulky for him? (If 'yes,' then I would forget about the Kindle DX. Buy him something newer and lighter.)

Unfortunately Kobo doesn't have the same "push to the device" capability that Kindle does. One option, however, would be to set up the webbrowser with a link to a shared Dropbox account.

Since I live in China, I can't use Dropbox since the government finds all file-sharing and file-storage services a threat to their survival and control of the people. Since Kobo won't let me push books to it from a remote location, it is out of the running.

My Dad won't use a tablet, like iPad, since he has no use for computers at all. I don't think he has ever looked at a computer monitor. He liked the Kindle DX since he could just pick it up and turn it on and read.

Honestly, I don't know if the buttons made things easier or worse for him due to his arthritis. Thinking about it now, he does read paperbacks so the smaller size should not be an issue.

What I am going to do is either order him a new Kindle or ship my older model back to Canada for him. The advantage of giving him mine is that I can load it with books he will read. Also, I win since I can then get a newer one for me.

Thanks for the assistance.
