Alpine skiing is #12 from the top. Mogul skiing is near the bottom, actually fewer injuries than fencing!

As for rodeo... That hasn't been an Olympic sport since David slew the Finklesteins. (This list was made for just different Olympic events.)

This list breaks up the injuries into 'during the event,' 'during training,' solo or involving another player, summer and winter, etc., as well as stats for parts of the body injured.

What does she weigh these days? At our (rather crowded) bed, humorously enough, the little 10-pounder is the killer knees/shins/feet anchor, while the Big One (18lbs) kindly mostly sleeps next to me, although he's been known to climb on my chest and stretch out...which, even though I'm not a wee size 0 lassie, is still quite a sight, so I'm told. I can attest to the idea that trying to sleep with the equivalent of 2.5 gallons of milk (~8lbs each) on my chest is quite a feat. At least he's soft and fuzzy, I guess....

People. F*****g. Suck. Sorry for the language but I am beyond angry. Friends of mine have a business using goats to do stuff like clear brush on a neglected park. Well, their goats had a couple of very cute babies. My friends were so proud of them and shared cute pictures. Well, some unmitigated evil a******e beheaded one of the baby goats and the other baby is missing!

Some people are born evil. We are possibly fortunate in that most of those born evil are born stupid as well.

Hopefully law enforcement is taking this seriously as I have had personal experience of children and adolescents that were my neighbours and classmates going from this to torture and murder convictions.

There is no happy ending for these people, but that doesn't help those they harm on the way.

Before Christmas my wife went into a local drug store and among other things purchased a $250 pre-paid Visa card. (Not really sure WHY she did it but that's immaterial).

She was prepared to give us a list of all the transactions done on that card; sure enough not one of the transactions was recognized by us.

Now I have to send a fax / letter to them officially disputing them, and they in turn will flag them as fraudulent transactions.

Time for me to head back to the store and take a look at some of the cards on the displays there. I'm convinced that the CVV code should be hidden on the back of the card.

I plan to chat with the cashiers on duty and suggest that in future they might want to verify that the CVV code is still hidden when the cards are sold.

I think what happened is someone revealed the CVV code, recorded all the info from the card and then simply called in to check the balance until the card was activated.

You may be right. My mother had a gift card (AMEX)given to her that had zero balance. Maybe why.

I don't do gift cards or prepaid etc. unless I have to. If unable to buy a suitable gift I will now just give a shiny $50 or $100 bill. And if I want prepaid for myself I buy online.

IIRC, One of the Tom Corbett, Space Cadet novels has a scene where Tom is on a planet that is pretty much a garden spot, and the local fauna have no fear of humans. It's explained to him that if anyone mistreats an animal, that exact same mistreatment is publicly performed on them.

Probably didn't take too many object lessons to get the idea across...

Are you equating that with some nutbar cutting of an animals head and leaving the body behind to rot? Possibly just for kicks?

I eat meat, but kind of think I shouldn't. I am opposed to the way we raise and slaughter the meat we do eat and do not do anything about it. Makes me not so nice IMO.

But I think it is far removed from wanton slaughtering/cruelty/abuse such as cow tipping just for the fun of it although obviously you have a different idea.

Since an animal that is losing its life is not aware that it's being killed either wantonly or for a "legal" reason of eating it, I guess I am indeed equating these two situations. I believe it is our subjective moral point of view that artificially differentiate these two situations.
understand that I don't see a problem with someone being shocked at the barbaric endeavors by some sickos as described earlier in this thread, I have a problem with the lack of empathy to the mass killing of millions of animals when their death happen to "suit our needs as a society".
I agree with those calling the perpetrators of that animal beheading as "evil" but I don't think "evil" ends with them, I believe it pervades our society in a much deeper way than we care to admit. I believe we are collectively profoundly sick when we are BOTH so shocked by the killing of certain animals in certain situations like the one discussed here and lacking so much empathy when animals are killed on an industrial scale to please our culinary needs.
