For ereaders it has to be a dark bezel. Light bezels are too distracting. I bought a kobo mini with a white bezel and hated it so went back and bought one with a dark bezel. For tablets I tend to go for white bezels. My iPad air 2 and mini 3 are both white. I don't read for long stretches on tablets so a white bezel is acceptable.

Given a choice, I prefer black, but ultimately, it doesn't really make any difference to me.
I'm thinking about it now, and I honestly have no idea what color the bezels are on *any* of my devices ![]() ![]() |

I want black and matte. I always put a matte screen protector on my phone and tablets because I am so sensitive to light that even the reflections bother me. I also need a colored background when I read.
And a white bezel makes me think it's an iThing. I don't want any iThing. |

I had to laugh when you mentioned iThing, Purple Lady. More people are leaning on Black Bezels, but I'd have to agree with Quexos that's it's only a matter of taste (I will defend the White Bezels forever though. lol)

as e-ink readers are made to be especially readable in bright environments (think outdoor under the sun), a white bezel tends to reflect a lot of light back to the eyes, making it harder to read the text. a mat black bezel reflects the least light, so reading the text is easier.

I have devices with dark and light bezels and when I'm looking at them, judging them, thinking about them, I prefer black for some things and white for other things. For reading I prefer black but only until I begin reading. Then I'm in the book and there's simply no difference.
