Harvard Classics Reading Plans?
Hi everybody,
I was wondering if anybody else, like myself, is going through the Harvard Classics one-year reading plan this year--and if so, have you devised a reading program more ambitious than the popularized 15-minutes a day for one year? Ideally, I would like to work through a more significant percentage of the volumes through the year. Thanks, and happy reading! |

Thanks very much! I had searched around and seen that the classics were available on the site, but missed the reading plans. This is what I'd been seeking.
Take care. Quote:

It's a typo (classiss instead of classics). Should be https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Harv..._at_MobileRead

The 15-minute plan books seem to go up to July right now. I found this on Amazon for under $2 which includes the whole year's worth in one volume:
http://www.amazon.com/Harvard-Classi...rvard+classics It seems to be pretty well-edited and so far I have found no typos or errors (I am on day 5). |

I read the review on this and it looks pretty good. Unfortunately, one reviewer mentions the lack of notes not working, and the lack of ital. Still, that price is excellent. What I've done right now, though, is to download all the free ones from our Mobileread site, which is about 30-odd epubs (superb!) and the rest as mobi files. I converted the mobi files to epub, and then I used epub merge to join them all. |

Is there a benefit to having it all in one book though? I worry about my reader choking on such a large file, and I like to be able to check them off as I finish them. I do like my little daily reading anthology though, it was a great purchase.

I don't know about it choking. I've never experienced that with those large Delphi Classics series. There are two points to consider, I would argue, and both should be examined to see how it fits into one's personality as a reader: 1) One large file - and in ordered sequence - makes for ease of use and access. The ebook reader is not cluttered with a lot of busy files. or 2) Having many files and then finishing each one in numbered sequence, gives one a sense of achievement, of working through the entire series. I personally find myself sometimes leaning in both directions, but mainly I choose #1. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 01-20-2015 at 05:56 PM. Reason: added 'of' |

The problem is that the big book with all of them seems to have some editing errors (no italics or footnotes) and another edition is available which is error-free but $50. I guess we have to DIY this one if we want the one volume :-)

Can you provide the link for the $50 one, please? I'd like to at least take a look at it. Thanks. ADDED: I found it! Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Harva...rvard+classics |
