Free from the author via KDP Select @ Amazon:
The Best Man by L. A. Witt, an m/m contemporary romance, apparently 1st in the Wilde series, which the blurb notes was previously published (probably at one of the digital houses, I didn't bother to check). Witt is a Samhain, MLR Press, and Carina author, IIRC. Jon Beatty thought he’d found the best man for him until Craig walked out. To add insult to injury, Craig's got a new lover—a woman—and wants Jon to be a different kind of best man…at his wedding. Reasoning that the only way to get over one man is to get under another, Jon heads out to Wilde’s, the night club on Capitol Hill famous for its hot clientele and hotter bartenders. Jon just wants to get drunk and get laid, and bartender Liam Sable is more than willing to help with both. Their one night stand turns into a rebound fling, but as Jon moves on with Liam, Craig starts having second thoughts about the break-up. His tiresome antics are the least of Jon and Liam’s worries, though. The least annoying, and the least dangerous… ETA: Free again from the author via KDP Select @ Amazon: Fair Game by Doreen Owens Malek, an f/m contemporary romantic suspense originally out from Popular Library in 1989. Confusingly, Amazon has filed this with a mystery novel of the same name with a different author (and has even put Malek's name as a co-author on that one, and included the editorial reviews for Krich's book under Malek's listing). She was both an important attorney and Senator Joseph Fair's daughter - a porcelain and gold beauty who worked among Washington's political elite. And when Ashley Fair joined her father's hectic Presidential campaign, her life took her to the very pinnacles of fame and power. Then she met Timothy Martin, the intriguing and darkly handsome police lieutenant assigned to protect her father. To Tim, Ashley was strictly off-limits, a woman from a world impossibly separated from his own by a chasm of class and money -- until the differences in their backgrounds dissolved in desire and their closeness drew them into the depths of an intoxicating passion. But in the shadows, danger was waiting for Ashley, sweeping her toward tragedy and the dark places of the heart where love becomes a torment..or the fulfillment of all dreams. ![]() ![]() Does anyone have Windows 8.1? Maybe Blossom can help me. Got my mom a laptop. it is Windows 8.1 It had McAfee installed as a 30 day trial. I removed it via the control panel installed MBAM and downloaded and tried to install MS Security Essentials. When I started to run the program I had a box pop up to tell me something about MS Security Essentials was part of Windows Defender. My question is do I need to buy and install an anti-virus or is the computer covered. I do not want to be worrying about viruses on her laptop. Thanks ![]() |

If they both came bundled with Windows 8.1, great. If not, the sooner you find out, the better. Avira, Avast, AVG, are good free AV alternatives. |

I haven't read a book since I put that last book up. I blame real life. Hubby has been home all month. I need to relax to read and I can't do that when he is always here so I have been binging on Gilmore Girls a show we both love.
I didn't buy anything as I am broke. I had Amazon take my gift balance and put it on Echo so it's all paid for. Things are so up in the air I didn't want to remember to keep money on my card for it and with the way Amazon changes delivery dates it was safer that way. I had to call to get it changed over the order was locked. Was washing dishes tonight when I heard a gunshot out in the parking lot then return fire. Minutes later the police showed up. Domestic dispute. I heard the woman tell the officer if her guy came back what she was going to do with the guy. I told hubby it's so easy to forget the neighborhood you live in and then something nuts like this happens. I just want a nice quiet environment that is boring as boring can be so I can relax and catch up on reading. It's never quiet here and I blame that on my lack of reading. |

I have been using win 8.1 for 1 year now. Do NOT install any other anti-virus. Windows Defender, which includes a very good anti-virus + auto-updates itself regularly, is all that ou need. It does NOT play well with other anti-virus apps. So, if you were to install AVG (as I did at first) all sorts of odd problems arise and basically nothing works.
I did some research (a year ago) and basically the consensus is that it is best to just use Windows Defender. You have to un-install all other antivirus apps. I also installed a free malware scanning app. There are probably some antivirus programs that work at this point with win 8.1. But I have not had any problems. (t-t-t) |
