"You can either keep the case you have and we'll send a new case when they arrive or you can send the case back for a refund." I just received an email from Cover-Up regarding the magnet faux pas but my offer was not as generous. They told me I could keep the cover and receive a discount or mail it back for a refund. I replied asking if I could get the same offer as above. Update: The customer service representative has offered to send me a replacement cover when they become available. Hello! Jen here from Cover-Up. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience and kind words, and to explain a little more about exactly what our situation is.
As you know, our Kobo Aura H2O cases were received at our South Wales HQ on Christmas Eve and sent out that day. Unfortunately we then discovered that there is a fault with the cases that means the sleep/wake feature doesn't work. We are in the process of contacting each customer that received one of these cases to inform them of the mistake, and of course to explain how we intend to fix it. We are getting new cases which will have the sleep/wake feature, but we can't yet confirm when this will be. We don't want to promise a replacement case without being able to give some form of timeframe on when the new case may arrive. However, of course, if people are happy to wait that's perfectly ok with us. Of course, as soon as we have more information on an arrival date for the new cases we will let everyone who's waiting know. Alternatively we have offered customers 10% off their order, which we can refund via the original payment method. I hope that this has helped to clarify the situation, but if you have any questions please contact us directly at support@coverupaccessories.com. We'd be more than happy to help. Thanks again, Jen Pascoe Cover-Up |

Review of Cover-Ups' Hemp cover for the H2O
Okay, I have been using this cover for two weeks now and I have not found anything to not like about it. The quality of the construction is very good. It feels and looks like it will last. I like the magnetic type closure that it uses. It looks like a snap but uses a strong magnet to hold it shut securely but is still easy to close and open without having to press or pull too hard. I really enjoy the feel of the hemp under my fingers rather than the pseudo-leather of over covers. I have no problem opening and closing the water seal over the USB port and side loading while the book is still in the cover. When I first received the cover I was not happy with the gap they left between the spine of the cover and the edge of the book, but after two weeks of use I am thinking this will not be a problem after all, as the cover has been staying square when it is closed. It does shift a little and I am waiting to see if that will affect the sleep function when they get the magnet problem sorted out. There is one large pocket on the inside cover that could be useful to hold a small page or two of notes. There are two small pockets on the large pocket that I guess you could use to store a couple of extra micro sd cards if you liked to carry around the Library of Congress. Cover-Ups has excellent customer service. That is my two cents worth. If you are looking for a cloth folio type cover I do not think you would be too disappointed with this model. |

@ElWorm thanks for that review.
![]() Do you fold back your cover so that it's behind the device when you read? I usually do so I'm wondering if it folds back comfortably, and doesn't put the device into 'sleep mode'. NB Aus readers: Cover-Up doesn't charge for postage!!! ![]() Last edited by Lynx-lynx; 01-14-2015 at 06:15 PM. |

@JenCover-UP, thanks for posting.
![]() Do the Hemp H2O covers have 'sleep mode' functionality? (Did they need to be sorted out?) I'm in Aus and quite interested, but returns would be very problematic. |

I received my cover/case today.
Just thought I'd share the temporary DIY cover I have been using for my H2O in the interim. It's a hardbook cover with the pages stripped out and a layer of foam stuck to the inside with double sided tape. The foam protects the reader screen when closed. Since it was always meant to be temporary, I did not bother attaching straps at the corners to hold the reader in place. The covers too big to hold when reading anyway. |

This is the cover I received today (GBP 8.99 + delivery charges)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I picked coffee brown since I wanted to add a conservative dash of colour to the black and white e-reader. Both the front and back seem extremely sturdy with no hint of flex. I am confident that the screen is securely protected. The magnetic clasp is very strong and will keep the case shut when thrown into my bag. In fact it is so strong that I'm apprehensive that I'll tire of having to force it open every time I want to read. The inside is lined with the felt that every other cover/case seems to be lined with. The stitching appears neat with no sign of loose threads. There was a blue protective sticker over the metal clasp (?) on the edge that I peeled off. There seem to be a few scuff marks on the clasp, as you can spot in the pictures. Initially I thought it might be glue residue and tried rubbing it off with screen cleaning solution, but they seem to be scratches all right. I don't really mind the scuff marks, but it is something to keep in mind if you're picky about these things. |

The reader fits in perfectly with a satisfying click. It does not move around within the case.
I enabled the setting to put the device to sleep when the cover is closed, and can confirm that it works consistently with this cover. I am a happy camper ![]() |

As you can see, the back of the case is moulded plastic with a synthetic leather covering that conforms to the contours of the back of the reader itself.
Both the flap at the bottom and the power button on top are accessible without having to remove the reader from the cover. The front of the cover flips back completely. Since the back is moulded to the contours of the reader which is not completely flat, the front of the cover will not sit flat against it too. However, the resultant gap is minimal and does not hinder comfortable usage in that position. I have not noted any interference from the magnet when held in this position so far. I find that I prefer the feel of the synthetic leather of this cover to the soft rubberised coating on the back of the reader. It is grippy enough for my use. If you wear gloves when holding the device, it might prove a bit slippery, in my opinion. You would be better off with the bare rubbery back of the device or the hemp cover, in that case. Combined with the extra padding the over provides to the device, it gives me the nice feeling of holding a small leather bound hard-back in my hand. I would not hesitate to recommend this cover and would purchase it again if I needed a replacement. I would recommend using the link I posted above, since I have noted that there are other covers on the market that look very similar to this one, but can be differentiated by the lack of the stitching and a cheaper plasticky look to the "leather". ![]() |

Someone posted earlier that it looks like they are still selling the old batch but not claiming sleep mode functionality in the description anymore. |

No, these covers don't have the sleep/wake feature I'm afraid. As some others users have mentioned they were supposed to, but unfortunately an error in the manufacturing process meant that it doesn't work as it should. We will be getting a new batch of cases with functioning sleep/wake, but I can't promise when this will be. For the time being we've reduceced the price of the cases back to the special pre-order price, and removed the sleep/wake from the description. I hope that this helps. If there's anything else I can do please just shout, or get in touch at "support@coverupaccessories.com". Thanks, Jen Cover-Up |

I was told by Cover Up six weeks, so I'm not expecting to hear anything from them until early February. I returned my cover and am awaiting a replacement.

Mm, I'm going to be looking for a sleep/wake cover for an H2O in Australia too. A lot of these Amazon covers aren't available to here. Back to Gecko?
