I bought my Voyage while in the US but do not live there. I got an ad-supported one because I bought it on the first day it was available, thinking I'd pay later to get rid of the ads but as a matter of fact, I like it that way. Some of the ads are quite nice, some are just hilarious (I have a good sense of humour I guess) so I'll leave it the way it came.
Still love my Voyage !!! |

I got my Voyage for Christmas. Really loving it so far. The screen is nigh-perfect, the extra DPI really help, it just "feels" right. The lighting is very uniform throughout. It's definitely one step above the PW (although I do think the price is set too high).
Just two minor issues so far: 1. I like the Caecilia font, so I'm using it now (as opposed to Palatino on my PW). However, I think the bold is too "weak", not black enough IMHO (to the point of being hard to distinguish whether normal-sized text is really in bold. On Palatino or Helvetica the bold looks fine - but I'm not fond of these fonts anymore. Talk about first world problems ![]() 2. Sometimes when I'm reading, the Kindle spontaneously goes to sleep, forcing me to lift one corner of the origami cover to bring it back to life. Still haven't determined what causes this issue, or whether it's a HW/SW problem. BTW, I even liked the Origami cover, despite the initial awkwardness. |

I've only had problem #2 if I myself am also spontaneously going to sleep, and thus spending far too long on that page ..... but a good book isn't quite as likely to produce that problem
![]() Seriously, though -- it really shouldn't do that. If it continues, even after a good power on and off (just for good measure), you might want to talk to Amazon about it. (Other opinions?) |

To really test my hypothesis, I'll read my a few chapters of the next book without the cover. If the error doesn't recur, I'll consider it solved. |

I talked myself out of upgrading from a PW2 when the Voyage first came out in part due to mixed comments on this forum. After I got a Christmas bonus, I changed my mind and splurged. I only wish I'd done so sooner. I love the increased resolution on the Voyage. And I'm not aware of any discoloration in my screen. Instead, what I see is a first class reading experience. I agree with Amazon's positioning of this device - it's for the serious ebook reader (which is me). I love it. But at the same time, I wouldn't recommend it to my friends I know to be casual readers. I'm very happy with my new Voyage. For me the big feature is the increased resolution. I'm a stickler for that, and the Voyage really delivers. I hope everyone buys the perfect device for them. But if you have the money, you like having a flagship device, and are a serous ebook reader, I recommend you get the Voyage. |

I completely agree with goggin, I am loving my Voyage. Still not sure if the screen is noticably better resolution, but i was comfortable with my Kindle Keyboard anyway.
A year ago I suffered a stroke, leaving the left half of my body paralysed. I'm still undergoing rehab and can walk again though my left arm doesn't function yet. So its was difficult for me to read books or magazines while hospitalised, and still is. So the Voyage was a bit of a feel-good treat for myself and it sure has worked. I can't stand reading from screens normally, its like having a torch shining in your eyes so I was apprehensive about the lighting but its so easy on the eyes and uniform across the screen. So now I'm helping my brain recover with lots of reading i can settle into a comfortable reading position and use the Voyage one handed. No more fighting to keep a book open or stop pages flipping back. I do miss the side pageturn buttons of the keyboard, I prefer the tactic feel of them and I hate finger smudges on the screen, unlike other devices though the smudges are pretty much invisible when reading. A very well designed and usable product.Expensive? yes, Essential? no, my older Kindle Keyboard is still very enjoyable and works perfect after all these years. No other brand I've played with has impressed me in any way, but my kindles always put a smile on my face. Speed? like almost everything else it could be faster, but they are not slow by any means.Colour? I don't miss it in any way, one day we will have colour eInk screens but its not needed, besides how many paperback books are lavishly illustrated in full colour anyway? |

I decided to try a new Voyage that Amazon delivered on 1/20. I originally purchased on day 1. I couldn't handle the different colored screen (yellow at top and blue hue at bottom).
New Voyage has same problems plus 3 visible pinholes. Oh well, at least I was open minded enough to try again. Maybe next year for me. |

Ordered my Voyage on Christmas Day and couldn't get used to the yellow tint at the top. Contacted Amazon and they've sent a replacement which also has a yellow tint.
I think I'll just change to a PW2 instead. |

<old timer here> Shakey voice pipes up "Ahh yes, I remember way back when, when we thought $399 was a great price to pay for the privilege of having the very first e-ink Kindle! And its buttons pressed so easily that one was forever changing pages accidentally. But it was e-ink, and had changeable fonts!! It was worth it!"

Finally got my voyage! I held off for so long as I didn't think it was much of an upgrade. However I forced myself into buying it by giving my paper white 2 away to my cousin
![]() ![]() I'm just setting it up now. So far I'm impressed with the thinness and I like the auto brightness setting. Text seems to be noticeably sharper than my paper white and lighting is even enough. |
