Is there a way to determine the file size of an audio book before downloading? I tried asking Audible thru chat but they were idiots and did not understand what I was asking. I am on satellite internet and have a specific amount of bandwidth I am allowed. I just do not want to go over my allowed bandwidth.

There is and it hinges on which Audible format you use -- 2, 3, 4, e (enhanced). Just multiply the length of the audiobook (in hours) times the number of MB/hour for the format you wish to use for downloading (see chart below). That'll give you a very close approximation of the file size.

Example for The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

Length --> 17h 51m
Format --> enhanced = 28.8 MB/hr
Do the Math --> 17.85 hrs x 28.8 MB/hr = 514 MB
Actual File Size --> 493.6 MB (according to AudibleManager after downloading)

I should of ask here instead of contacting Audible. I just do not want to go over my bandwidth and pay extra. I have been having a hard time staying up until my free time that is between 2-4 am.

Can you go somewhere with free wi-fi and download a bunch of audiobooks while there?

If I am in the city and I know I have a large file to download I will stop by McDonald's and use the WiFi there but sometimes that is not always possible. Living out in a very rural area has it drawbacks but I would not live anywhere else.

Do you have a public library nearby? Most of them have free wifi.

My public library does not offer free wifi. It is McDonald's or nothing for me. Just part of rural life. I downloaded the two books. They ended up being a little over 200 MB for both.

I have been on a mystery kick lately and listening to all of the Agatha Raisin mysteries. And all of the audio books is your fault tubemonkey. You kept talking about how great audio was and I finally gave in. Now I am wondering why it took me so long to start. I put the books my iPod (which I got to working again) and listen while I work, clean house, cook supper, everything.

One day I will replace my iPod but until it fully stops working/charging I am going to use it.

My husband grew up in rural Indiana, and his parents still live there. They were finally able to get a broadband connection I think three years ago? And it's still slow as molasses.

What kind of rabbits do you raise? My husband raised rabbits when he was young, and he had a number of 4H winners.

If satellite is considered broadband then yes it is slow. It usually takes around 5 minutes to download an audio book.

I have pet rabbits I do not breed them. Mine are nothing but spoiled house pets who think they need a treat when ever someone walks out of the kitchen.

My father raised Organic Black Angus Beef Cattle. Yes when they leave our farm they are 100% organic no type of steroids or antibiotics used. When they get to the feed lots is where they might get some type of antibiotics or steroids. We also grow corn, wheat, soybeans & several different types of hay.

lol I have a basset hound also so they must get it from him. Both my bunnies are rescue. They were Easter presents they turned into a problem because they got larger and did not stay small and cuddly. But bunnies are not cuddly creatures. They enjoy staying on the ground and not in some persons arms.

I admit mine are very spoiled. Cupcake is almost 9 years old and BrownieBoy is about 1 year old. Cupcake's bonded mate passed in May 2014 so I got Brownie.

Two of my three hounds are beagle/basset mutts. The other is a beagle/dachshund mutt. All are rescues, and all are spoiled rotten.
