Despite the cartoon character, the actual Pink Panther is a diamond with a panther-shaped flaw.

Helen McCrory (the actress who played Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies) was supposed to play Narcissa's sister Bellatrix Lestrange but became pregnant around the time they were going to make the 5th movie (Order of the Phoenix) and so Helena Bonham Carter was cast in the role of the insane Azkaban escapee instead.

Now this trivia will be under scrutiny...
The only ball game completely invented in the United States is basketball. Is this true? Baseball, I'm sure, was invented in England but developed into its modern form in the US. |

The song "Gloomy Sunday", written by Rezső Seress, is known as "The Hungarian Suicide Song" due to the large number of suicides that have been associated with the song (including the writer of the song per Wikipedia).

Pretty sure it was invented in Springfield, Massachusetts. But I wouldn't doubt there are other games that have similarities. For instance, the ball games of the Aztecs that involved tossing a ball through hoops at either end of a playing field. |

But then it probably pre-dated the United States. |

Opps, a quick Wiki-look shows it was invented not only pre-USA, but also in what was to become Canada.

![]() According to... (You guessed it!) The Word Museum, cat-Latin is "[i]ncoherent or idle talk; bad writing." So I've been speaking cat-Latin Spanglish with my mother all this time! lol |

Thanks trich! Now...
In Sweden on 1 January 1994, there was the same number of 8 year old girls (112,521) as there were 9 year old girls on 1 January 1995, with no migration or death, which is unique in all population statistics. |

According to The Word Museum, chicken-pecked is being "[u]nder the rule of a child, as hen-pecked [is] under the rule of a woman."
Shouldn't it be chick-pecked? Last edited by trichobezoar; 01-09-2015 at 08:51 AM. Reason: Edited grammar. |

St. Bernard dogs carried barrels of milk not brandy. It is a myth created by the tourism industry. Brandy would kill a person with hypothermia.

According to 10 Words Coined in the Sci-Fi Universe on my Dictionary.com app,
"While the noun robotics is commonplace today, it wasn't back in 1941 when sci-fi writer Isaac Asimov coined the term in a short story published in Astounding Science Fiction. It took another 20 years before the term really took off, and by the 1980s, robotics had firmly planted itself in the English language." |

According to 10 Words Coined in the Sci-Fi Universe,
"While time travel has been considered since as early as The Mahabharata, H. G. Wells gave the English language much-used terminology on the subject. In 1894 Wells coined terms related to time travel such as time travelling and time traveller in his story with the heading "Time Travelling: Possibility or Paradox." A year later, in his novella The Time Machine, Wells explores time travel in more detail as an unnamed protagonist moves backwards and forwards in time, encountering the mythical species of the Eloi and the Morlocks on his way." |
