I meant the extra code in the kepubs downloaded with the desktop app. You're right that using the ADE or DRM-free download link gives you (with a few exceptions) a clean publisher copy.

Mostly Kobo because of the coupons. Sometimes amazon.

Which stores do you use for English books?

What? I'm the same (non-English), but there is no law like that in my country. I have a strong feeling that a law like that would be against human rights. In fact the only place I can think of that would do something like that to its citizens is North Korea. Where the hell are you from man? |

However I do agree with you that this should be considered as being against human rights. |

That's not the same as not being allowed to buy books in English. You might get that message for some books in English but not all. I buy at kobobooks all the time without being in US, Canada or UK. |

You're technically right, but the fact remains I am not allowed to buy books from American or English online stores and that still means there is something wrong with the system. I don't like the layout of Kobo books, too much space between lines and paragraphs, but I am not given a choice.

You won't be able to buy from any of the "national" Amazon stores outside your own country, but "amazon.com" is open to anyone. |

You can bypass geographic restrictions easily but the legality of the act is very much undetermined (at least in continental law, lawyer here). Kind of a grey area. But let's not discuss law here.

To say you are not allowed to buy English books (implying all in OP) because of geographical restrictions that may apply to few books is pushing it to say the least. I see it as being shocking for shock value only. Even more so because his location says European Union. I'm in Europe but not in European union and that has never stopped me getting any books in English. If amazon.com doesn't offer it, kobo sure does. Even when I was in Japan, I had no problem getting either paperbooks from bookdepository, who do worldwide delivery, or ebooks from amazon.co.jp. amazon.com or rakuten.kobobooks.com |

I used to use Kobo. I do find their service sloppy, and the customer care awful. I'm now shifting to using Google: at the moment, I find that most of their stuff is about £2 cheaper than Kobo.
The problem with Google is a poorly designed web-site. I'm still new to many webby things, and I find with Google I need to make informed guesses to get the purchases to download. |
