Pocketbook Touch Lux 2 different hardware versions

Got myself a PocketBook Touch Lux 2 a couple of months ago.

After used a Kobo Glo and an Aura HD before, I think it's an awesome E-reader. So I bought another one for my wife. I don't know this is already common knowledge but the two PocketBooks have different hardware. The 'older' one has a far smoother front glass, warmer front light and slightly brighter background when front light is off. The 'newer' one has therefor better contrast when LED front light is used due to a more white/blue-ish colour tone but less contrast when LED light is off. Tomorrow I will post some pics... |

On the left the 'old' and on the right the 'new' one. Differences are minor but noticable. In direct sunlight the darker background is neglectable; in a dim lit room it's more pronounced. The new one has some kind of 'Kodak Lustre' finish to it; sort of classroom photo treatment. Tapping has the same feeling but swiping or pinch and zoom is (far) less comfortable. As a plus it's even more resistant to reflections. The lowest LED 'slider setting on the 'old' one set the LED completely off. The lowest LED 'slider setting on the 'new' one set the LED very low but a tad brighter than the second low setting on the 'old' one. Picture 1: natural light - LED Off ![]() Picture 2: LED Max ![]() Picture 3: LED Max

I can confirm it - the old version has yellow warm light, the new version has cold blue light and better contrast.

![]() The right one is the new one, the left the old one. I got a new one too, a white one, here also the display is rough and the screen pretty white. (I don't have an old Lux to compare, but it's way rougher than any of my other readers) |
