Oberons hold their value and they are good quality - but, and it is, as Harry says, a totally subjective thing - personally I don't like cases that use elastic to hold the corners and for the Voyage, the covers are big. Which would mean that if you dropped it on it's edge you'd prob be fine as there's plenty of material to absorb the impact.

I'm fed up with trawling and have decided to make my own. Oberon's small journal covers are the best fit in terms of dimensions and I''m going to see if I can take the 'tray' holder out of a cheap light weight cover and attach it to the inside of their journal (scalpel, sand paper, good glue). Then it's just a question of magnetising the right place to get the on/off function. We shall see. The initial damage will be to the cheap cover and if that goes well, I'll tamper with the journal.

As for cost, well that's up to the person paying - no?

Since I last visited, I received a Purple Floral MoKo Amazon Kindle Voyage Case - Ultra Slim Lightweight Smart-shell Stand Cover Case http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Amazon-Ki...dp/B00NPU3AKY/ and after using a sleeve for the last two months, it is definitely better to be using a cover - and happy to have a satisfactory book-style cover at that.

I was also looking at the book-style MoKo Amazon Kindle Voyage Case - Standing Origami Slim Shell Case http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Amazon-Ki...dp/B00H7TVBJG/ - 18.99/Prime but only comes in black right now. Like to see some reviews.

Sadly they are pleather but not terribly expensive and solves the immediate issue of having a cover at least. The sleep/wake function works great.

I bought a Swees cover for my Voyage just to have something until I could find a cover I really like - it's a cheap looking, made in China fake leather case that fits well - and I only paid $3.99 for it. Noticed today it's up to $9.99. The wake-sleep function works, but the case feels so slick I'm afraid I'll drop it. I just figured I'd buy the cheapest case I could find until I can find something better - real leather, book style, not flip top - there still don't seem to be any of those around. I would have thought the Voyage would have been out long enough by now that some 3rd party manufacturer would have come out with something like what I want, since I suspect I'm not the only one looking for something like that.

An Oberon is starting to look better and better - but I noticed they're closed until next week, giving me a while to debate the issue with myself. I had an Oberon for my DX years ago that folded all the way flat, but it only had a design on the front, which made me think that made it easier to fold - but looking at the current Oberon designs, I don't see one that doesn't have a design that runs all the way across the piece of leather.

Does anyone know if they do or do not routinely put the wool felt on the inside of the Kindle covers? I can't find mention of it on the website.

You can request Oberon to leave off the wool. I've known several people who did that.

Well I'm still using the cheapo Forefront case I ordered and it's been OK over Christmas on holiday, reading by the pool etc. It's protected the Voyage well, hasn't marked or stained and hasn't caused any other issues thus far, so unless something else really nice appears, I guess I'll be sticking with this. For about £10, it's pretty good.

I know other people had issues with them not being delivered pre-release of the Voyage, but now that they're actually in stock, I think they're OK.

I'll admit I haven't read though this extensive thread, so I don't know if these suggestions have been made yet. ALSO, both my wife and I have Kindle Basic 7th gens, but the covers I am going to comment on are also available for the Voyager and I'd think they would be pretty much the same.

I find that Amazon wants to direct you to EXPENSIVE cases (for obvious reasons and, strangely , heavily reviewed by VINE VOICES) but there are many better and much cheaper case options if you search.

Fintie Kindle Voyage SmartShell Case
This is the Voyager version. My wife has the Kindle Basic version, which she is very happy with. There are a number of other cases available that are very similar to this, such as the OMOTON and the ACcover brands. This is not my wife's first Kindle.

WAWO Premium PU Leather Folio Case
WAWO has two different cases. This link is to the Kindle Basic version of the one that I purchased. This is my first Kindle and while I like my wife's Fintie case, I felt a case with a hand strap on the back would be an advantage for one-handed reading. My wife says she is able to do this with the Fintie, but I foresee my hand cramping trying to hold the book and turn the pages with one hand, so the strap seems a great advantage to me. As far as the case itself, it costs less than the Fintie, the Fintie is thinner, stiffer and more 'enclosing', the Fintie has an Auto On/Off feature and the WAWO does not (personally, I don't think I like Auto On/Off), the Fintie cover is more hard plastic feeling where the WAWO cover is more faux leather feeling (with a cushioned front cover). I find the closure magnet on the WAWO slightly weaker than I'd prefer (though if necessary, the strap that would normally be used to hold it OPEN could be used to hold it CLOSED). So far, I am glad I purchased this cover over the Fintie.

Now, the strange thing about the WAWO cover is that the Voyager version of the cover I purchased DOES NOT have the strap. The other WAWO cover, which does not have a strap for the Kindle Basic, DOES for the Voyager. That is this case: Amazon Kindle Voyage E-reader Case - WAWO. While I don't have this version of the case, at least from the look of it, I think I prefer the way the Kindle is held in the case in this version than the version I have.

It's worth noting that the WAWO cases are Amazon Prime sold by Wawo and fulfilled by Amazon and it specifies "Free Returns", so I believe if you don't like the cover, you could return it for free.

Swees case here in black. I am not in agreement with the post above about the case much. I paid $9.99 from Amazon Prime. Do I love it as much as I loved the Amazon Paperwhite case with its textured finish? No. Is it darn close for my needs? Yes! The exterior is real looking and feeling faux black leather. It's very soft yet durable in its finish. It is not slick, it is however not really textured. I used to sell fine leathers in the men's apparel biz so...

Love the on/off function of the case. It fits snugly in its cavity. The finish on the brushed microfiber inside will not damage the screen and feels good when you flip the cover to read. My only preference would be to make the case a bit easier or logical as to how best and where best to open it when you are ready to. The magnet is strong. I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars. For the money it is really a 5. I will order another in case I damage this one.

Swees case for Voyage

I have the Fintie case for my H2O and I do like it. I'd recommend it.

But I would not recommend it for a Kindle that's not front lit as there's no good place to attach a light.

Book Style case with stand

I took a chance on the MoKo Amazon Kindle Voyage Case - Standing Origami Slim Shell Case which had 0 reviews when I ordered it.

I wanted a case that opened book style and had a stand mechanism. So far, this is the only one I've found with those features. I like the case very much. You can read my review on Amazon. I tried to add as many details as I could think of since I knew from reading this thread that others were interested in these features.

When I purchased it last week it was $18.99 Prime. Then it disappeared from Prime but now it's back - but at a higher price. Given how many times the price has changed in the last couple weeks it's probably worth waiting to see what the next price is.

I do wish it wasn't black. But I was willing to sacrifice to get the features I want. And it was cheap enough that I could replace it in the future without feeling too guilty.

Hmmmmm, this is making me rethink getting one of the origami covers. I understand that when you flip it over the magnets stick the cover to the back of the Kindle. Will I be able to slide my finger between the back of the Kindle and the origami cover like I do with my book type cover? That's pretty much how I always hold it.

Yes, no problem at all. It's not a terribly strong magnet - it won't squash your finger.

I have been using the omoton cover since getting the voyage in late November. Excellent cover for the price. I just received Amazon's origami cover and I have to say that I love everything about it. Thank you to whomever it was that posted about the 20% off last week. Between Christmas gift cards and credit card rewards points the cover ended up bring free. I like that. Anyhow the design is ingenious, taking full advantage of the built in magnets. I love that I can also pop the cover off easily to use the voyage naked. It may be my imagination, but the lighting seems even more uniform than before when using the cover in the stand position. . Angle just right? . I still think that it is pricey (regular prices) but if you can figure out a way to justify getting one then I say go for it.

After a few weeks of use with the Forefront case, I found I was missing the ability to hold it like a book, around the spine, as the Forefront has a much flimsier join. I bought an Incipio case to replace it and whilst it does add a little thickness, it now gives me the ability to hold the device like a book again.

The Incipio case doesn't have the sleep/wake function when you open it, but as I found that didn't always work on the Forefront case, I'm not really missing it. The Incipio has a button cover on the back so you can easily press the power button.

I, too, switched from the Omoton cover to the origami cover, and I really prefer the origami. My only concern is that the cover is too nice, with the leather being on the back as well, and I have to be careful to make sure I only put it down on a clean surface. I didn't worry so much about the Omoton cover.
