The Old org touch & the New Touch Basic..... Please compare

Old KT:
physical home button, audio

New KT2:
fw 5.6.x and all the attendant "goodies". Cloud Collections for example, though I heard it works a bit better nowadays.

The new touch basic is much faster and more responsive as compared to the original touch. They both are kind of clunky, ugly looking but I prefer black bezel to that too machine like silver.

One major difference is no jailbreaking the new Kindle.

OK one thing I wanted to know was can you use the org Touch online other than Amazon? Seems to me when I was playing with the new one you could. Tho all the sale clerk did was take me into Amazon site a different way than thru books only site.

AND IF you can go online to other sites with the org HOW?

I just got a used Touch yesterday trying to learn How to use it

ALSO wondering IF I should have saved my money for the new one

You should be able to go anywhere with wifi. With 3G, only Amazon.

It took me awhile to realize that org = original. The Touch's 3G only supports amazon. You need a Kindle 3 or older to have full access to the net through 3G. With wifi you can access the whole internet.

Harry T, you are such a spoil-sport. Why should anyone read a users manual when he/she can have someone else read for him/her.

I purchased this USED! It don't have any Guides! IF you would have read my post before the advice Harry you would have know that! BTW there is Not even a Guide on it either!

The guide will be in your Kindle Cloud, and you can download it at any time.

Yes, the guide to your ebook reader is itself in ebook format.

Rather annoying that -- as it tries to reinstate itself every time a device is added to an account.

Also I not sure when the original person purchased it. I know a batch of Touch came out Nov 2013 along with the K3 [I got the K3

] But don't know if this was in that batch or an older one. Anyway to tell? Figured at that point Amazon stopped supplying a guide.

Good grief. You can download a user manual for any Kindle model, even the long discontinued original Kindle. They're all listed here:
