On a Kindle you don't "give yourself root permissions" - We at Mobileread, refer to releasing the Kindle from the jail of being able to only install packages signed by Amazon as "Jailbreaking". Once you have installed our public key certificate in the Kindle's certificate store it is "(Mobileread) Jailbroken". It remains that way until the certificate is removed. The O.P. here will probably hand copy the certificate using commands on the serial port operator's console - Then install the most recent USBnetworking snapshot - Remove the serial port connection - And then close up the device. After that, just access the device over the network with Telnet or SSH.

@zxczxc: Run the jailbreak/bridge install script manually from the latest snapshots.

Hi everybody! It's my first post. I've got a problem: how to stop autoboot? I use FTDI cable and linux->minicom. |

Press any key. If you can't find the "any key" - press escape key instead. |

Which system? "Main" or "Diags" (Your Kindle is a dual boot system). The easy way is to backup "Main" while running the "Diags" system and backup "Diags" while running the "Main" system. The general process has not changed during the lifetime of the 5.x firmware series and only had minor changes since earlier firmwares. Translation: There must be hundreds of posts on this subject to be found here and in the Wiki. - - - - - PS: If you want to make a copy of the rootfs, why are you posting in this thread instead of starting your own thread for your topic? |

I can't say, I have not (yet) had the cooperation of a PW2 owner that is required to find a good point. Pictures of the other connection points (for the PW2) are in the "KT2 Exposed" thread. If you can't find a good source on the MB, use an external battery pack.
