Is there a system to manual update both of them (koreader and ksm)?
If you go here you should find the latest Koreader download. If you go to the page (94) in this thread and follow the link you can find the latest nightly. All you need do for Koreader is copy the koreader folder inside the download zip file into your device's .kobo folder, overwriting the old koreader folder.

After answering the popup question, there is no indication that Koreader is trying to turn on the device's Wifi. It can take a few minutes where it may look like nothing is happening. Even when the WiFi has been turned on, there is no indication that it is on. If you don't get an error message, within a few minutes, try and make a connection by redoing whatever you did to get the Popup message, in the first place.

RMSDK is the library / foundation supplied by Adobe and used by Kobo (and many others) as the basis for their portable ePub readers. It is also the component that handles the DRM aspect of the Adobe infrastructure.

Among Adobe's many products is its "Reader Mobile", made for use in "embedded" devices like Phones and e-readers. Manufacturers use Software Development Kits (SDK) provided by companies like Adobe to add the software to their devices. They are usually free to implement/or not implement the features of the supplied program in whatever manner they wish. (For instance; since v.2.9.1, The Reader Mobile has been able to make use of the Barnes&Noble encryption system.) Of course Kobo would not implement that feature.

Since v2.9.1 of what? The RMSDK or the Kobo firmware? The version of RMSDK Kobo uses changed with firmware 3.5.0 or 3.8.0. Before that, they used the same RMSDK version for at least the previous two years. If they had changed the version before, it was with v2.0.0.

As to the DRM B&N uses, it is a Adobe DRM. But, is uses a different key method than most of the other shops. It has always been in the versions of RMSDK that Kobo uses. It is a pity Kobo does support it. It might help them get some more customers.

While this is remotely related to Koreader, I think this discussion - well, any comparision of reader engines and especially descriptions of other engines - is quite off-topic here.

Many thanks Ken

In past enabling wifi take some seconds.
Ok i did a manual overwriting installation to the nightly 199f864 and i get anyway a freeze when i push on the wifi pop up message dialog
but this time after 3-4 minutes the popup close and the wifi is still same off.

No problem i'll wait the next update of ksm and i'll do a clean installation of ksm and koreader.

Have you had your device connected to a network at sometime since the last time you may have done a factory reset? Or at all since you got it?

Have you started Nickel and clicked on the menu and selected "Settings"? Then selected "Wi Fi connection" then Wi Fi "On" box checked? Then either "Edit Wi Fi connection" or "Join a Wi Fi network", to make an initial network connection with your WiFi network and so that it will be recognized by the device and Koreader be able to find it?

Ken,
I just thought you might want to know that some folks (like me) change the number of posts shown on the screen at once. Giving a page number doesn't really help them. For example, I only have 50 pages in this thread. But then again I guess they would be savvy enough to be able to find the information.

The computer programmer in me won't let undetected bugs manifest themselves.

I guess a link to the post would remain useful to such folks.

I just installed a fresh copy of the latest nightly version (after a factory reset), but cannot access Nickel at all. Startmenu exits koreader and cannot open Nickel at all! any workaround?

I had similar behaviour with KSM4 when my reader has not identified itself as dragon (if it is the Aura HD, I always mix the codenames . I copied again the contents of the zip of the firmware upgrade and let the firmware upgrade take place - in practice a factory reset.

I hope there is other solution, as it was quite drastic (and even after that it did not boot to nickel, so I had to do a real factory reset after 3 reboots).

What version of the Kobo Start Menu? What do you mean by, "Startmenu exits koreader"? I would reinstall KSM6. You should be able to start Nickel from KSM, with or without Koreader installed.

When I tap Start Nickel in KSM, it tries to open it with no avail and returns to KSM. I even downloaded and copied the Nickel (direct zip download...), but it shows the same behaviour.

This is the wrong thread, maybe you can find a solution here.
