I installed Calibre following the instruction from the website. Tnx to @eschwartz

before we go any further, you have a Kindle Touch witch supports KF8. So when you convert, don't go with the highly obsolete Mobi, go with AZW3 (KF8). Then if it still doesn't work, come back and report it. But you'll need to star a new thread as the title for this one won't be correct.

The OP can edit a title of the first post or they can ask any Mod to make it read: ('new title')

BTW I did not see an error line at the end of the log

Having another look at the log, it's also an incomplete log.

the log is not incomplete, that's all. I know it's strange but the log is complete.
Also when i convert to azw3 the result is the same:

Could you run calibre in debug mode, do a conversion ,shut calibre down and then post the log file that calibre has created.

I notice you are using the distro calibre, try using the binaries distributed from the main site.
http://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux

Whatever distro you are using actually has an up-to-date version (for a change) but sometimes they also patch things they shouldn't.

This is the second thread here I can point to and say "this is a bug in the PKGBUILD". I believe I can safely say it was a bad idea for someone to strip a few (modified) libs in order to use the system install.
I was shocked, because that is debian's job.

So when you convert, don't go with the highly obsolete Mobi, go with AZW3 (KF8). Then if it still doesn't work, come back and report it. But you'll need to star a new thread as the title for this one won't be correct.
