New OS - Screen Will Not DIM As Much As Before

I love reading white text on black background in darkened room. The older OS (before last two updates) allowed the screen to be dimmed more than the latest two updates, making reading (for me) a "harsher" experience.

I realize that the more common "problem" might be "not bright enough." But has anyone else noticed that the screen does not dim as much as before?

Can't say that I ever tried it that dim before using white-on-black. I dimmed it all the way down and shut the room light off. The result seemed pretty dim to me, yet surprisingly readable on my HDX 7.

Yep It's too bright now due to Sangria on all Kindle Fires with it and the only app that works to fix it is in Google Play it's called Display Brightness. It's not perfect as it sometimes when put to sleep go back to regular settings but it works fine while the device is awake and you have enable negative brightness on the app to get it dark enough. I've got mine set to -40% as the minimum and usually use about -30% for complete dark and -12 for lighted rooms.

THANK YOU, Blossom, for that app recommendation!

One more problem: When I turn "BRIGHTNESS" up, I do not get any smarter ...

(grin)

Merry holidays.
