I was going on 3 days without a charge till this. Good Idea on airplane mode. I may have to do that can I still get calls and texts that's really the important part of having a phone.

I never use Bluetooth but now you mentioned it I did turn on 4G yesterday to send a SMS to hubby but I turned it off afterward and went back to WiFi. I wonder could phone have a bug where it didn't turn it off? I may have to put Quick settings on it to make sure.

Anyone here have a problem with playing music? I spent an hour with Amazon on Saturday evening trying to fix the problem. I tap on the icon in jiggles and does NOTHING. I tried downloading the Prime music player tap that icon screen goes black and then back to the app drawer. Any ideas on a fix? Also I now have notice I have unread email but don't..any way to get rid of this notification? Thanks

Factory reset is your only hope. If that doesn't fix it then it's defective.

Who here has used Firefly, and what for? One time I tried it and it was listening for music (there was none playing). I thought it was for more stuff. Does it have to be connected to the internet?

That thing is stupid. I try to use it and it starts the camera. Wifi has to be on, too.

What version are you running? My phone says 3.6.8 (October 28, 2014) the last check happened on December 21, 2014. Just tried another check but says I need wifi and of course I'm on dialup. Check again later this afternoon when I can get access to broadband.

Edit: Just checked on broadband and 3.6.8 is latest.

Right now it is best at identifying music & movies & reading bar codes. If you are watching TV it can identify the show. Ditto with music. Yes it starts the camera and you do need to be connected online.

It is also a shopping tool - you can scan a bar code of something - if Amazon carries it you will be given the opportunity to order it.

There are two versions depending on which phone you own:

• 3.6.5 --> for locked AT&T phones
• 3.6.8 --> for unlocked GSM phones

This has been a big issue for the Rooting crowd. People were trying to Root their new unlocked phones with the unlock process using the locked firmware and bricking their new unlocked Fire Phone.
