Can there be some sort of option to automatically reject books e.g. coauthored by SparkNotes? It gets irritating when a lot of junk like that starts showing up which I am totally uninterested in, but I cannot reject all discovered books.

I would like to think more about book filtering before implementing anything. Can you give examples of specific books that you want to be rejected?

BPL was Boston public library before there was any other library. Boston Public Library is the first library in the USA and it's wrong to give BPL to some other library when BPL belongs to Boston.

Good luck forking this plugin, and maintaining it, and convincing everyone to use yours, and convincing the mods to index yours rather than the one maintained by the active and interested original creator, on the sole basis that you feel it is improper to list Brooklyn Public Library as "BPL" in the default configuration and examples.

That is literally your only hope of getting anyone to care.

I made a change for the next release. You will be able to configure author names that you want to exclude from search, even if they are the co-author along with a desired author. That should be sufficient to exclude these SparkNotes books.

This indicates something on the web page for a book at Freading (A Family Guide to Prince Caspian by Christin Ditchfield) that the plugin couldn't parse. I tried a search for the same book and I am not able to duplicate the error. If you continue to see this type of error then I suggest enabling the plugin tweak:
overdrive_link_save_responses_on_error = True
This will cause the web page to be saved as a file in your current directory when an error occurs. The log will show the file name used.

Having a copy of the web page causing the error would help me to diagnose the problem.

Added search for Open Library books that can be read online or downloaded without borrowing. (Public domain books from Internet Archive.) Configure a library with a provider of Open Library and a library-id of read.

Allow configuration of authors to be excluded from search, even if they are co-authors with desired authors. Enter each name in curly braces as a separate line in the configuration under Author name variants. e.g.: {SparkNotes}

Do not remove invalid library configuration data. Instead keep it, but prevent searches until it is corrected.

Handle Scribd books that are unavailable due to geographic restrictions.

Fix missing or incorrect edition year on titles of some annual short story collections on OverDrive.

Exclude undesired content types (e-book or audiobook) during searches at 3M to improve performance.

Fix links of discovered books that become unavailable not always being removed.

Fix occasional "KeyError" at job completion following a search of Amazon.

Report library validation errors received from OneClickdigital.

Handle Amazon Kindle e-books whose web page shows an "unavailable" warning message. (Note: The optional Amazon Product Advertising API does not indicate the unavailable status of books.)

Fix some books mistakenly being reported as available from Open Library when they are not.

Searches for authors of selected books are having trouble with checking Overdrive libraries.

Error Message:
Signing in to Pima OD AHW: : URLError ([SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed (_ssl.c:581))

I have two different libraries with Overdrive that I check and both fail as above. Logging in by hand proves my ID's/passwords are OK.

Note that OD has just recently introduced a whole new interface for their website and now forces users to create a UserID. Logins will accept either the old barcode number or this new UserID.
