I would also like to point out that there is no comparison between real life looking at the reader with your own eyes and looking at a picture on screen. A camera does a brutal job of making the effect look worse - at least on a lit screen.

If it bothers you, then I suggest you spend some reading time (many hours, maybe 10 or 20) and see if it still bothers you after that. You should not compromise on your reading enjoyment in a reader this expensive. Oh, please don't read 10 or 20 hours straight if you normally read a lot less per reading session - stretch it out over multiple reading sessions.

I would also add that, if this is your fourth Kindle Voyage, you know what a Voyage screen looks like, and only you can decide whether or not you like the look of it. Personally, I think the Voyage is great, but if you feel otherwise, stop wasting your time and Amazon's by seeking non-existent perfection, return it, and get something else.

I also own a Paperwhite - a device that I'm totally happy with. The main reason for ordering a Voyage was the auto-brightness-feature and the sharper text. Both things are, in my opinion, so helpful that they are worth the extra money. But if you pay that much you also expect a device with no failures. That is not expected too much. You just pay for the things that are described by the seller, Amazon. I can't remember a line in the description that says: "The new Kindle Voyage comes with a nice yellow color on the top and a clear blue on the bottom."

Don't get me wrong. I like Amazon and I like the Kindle. But in this special case I and many other customers simply didn't get what we paid for. So I just called CS, will return my Voyage(s) and stick with Paperwhite for at least some time.

Is a fully clear and white screen perfection? This is what I'm trying to find out, for the people who are satisfied, do you have a clear white screen or is it that you are tolerating color differences?

Just a note, I'm not here for any negativity, please don't respond if that is what you are offering.

No negativity, Gordon. Just saying that, after having had four Voyages, the previous poster has had ample opportunity to see what Voyage screens look like, and make up his mind whether or not he likes them. I really, really like the Voyage, but some people don't. Everyone has to make their own mind up about it.

Every Voyage screen has a color gradient, but most people don't see it. I don't see it visually, but if I look at the pixel values on a photograph of the screen of my Voyage, it's there. Hence the advice to make your own mind up!

I have to agree with Harry. After three Voyages I'd know if the fourth one was good enough the moment I turned it on. If your still asking the answer is it's not. And no a fully clear and white screen isn't possible, all the Voyages have color issues the only thing that matters is does yours matter to you. If it does send it back and get a Pw2.

Yes, thank you. The problem I have is that you have written that every Voyage screen has a color gradient, how can you make such an assertion?

I have watched over ten video reviews on Youtube, some from mainstream tech websites, some from private owners, in each one the screen looked amazing and with zero color gradient. I hope the one I buy looks like these screens.

That's the best option if your not happy with the Voyage. I'm sure next years will be 'improved'

You are confusing me with the other poster, I have a Pw2 and I am close to buying a Voyage.

And again I don't know how you can write that every Voyage has color issues, I hope you are wrong.

From the innumerable photographs of Voyage screens that have been posted in this thread, and other threads in this forum. There isn't one that doesn't have both a light gradient and a color gradient if you analyse the photograph. All that varies is how different people perceive them. Most people, myself included, simply don't see it, but the photograph shows that it is, nonetheless, there.

50 or maybe 100 photos at most, how many were ordered, tens of thousands, you've seen less than one percent.

It's a large enough sample to be statistically significant. If you see pictures of 100 Voyage screens, and they all have a colour gradient, it's entirely justifiable to conclude that it's a feature common to all Voyage screens.

But I am neither encouraging nor discouraging you from buying a Voyage. To repeat my advice, you need to make your own mind up. The majority of people do not see the gradient.

As others have said, people have different sensitivities to the "imperfections" in the screen. I love my Voyage. Does it have a gradient? Well, sometimes it looks like it does and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I think there is a pink area, but when I move my hand it goes away, so it was just a shadow. The bottom line for me was when I stopped worrying about it, I stopped seeing it. On the other hand, I upgraded from a K3, not a paperwhite, so benefit/cost ratio was much higher.

In summary? Only you know whether you will be happy with it. Good luck with whatever you choose.
