M92 weird problem
Hello everybody.
I am writing because I am having a completely unexpected problem with my beloved M92. After putting it on stand by, the next time I took it the screen was pretty much useless. Instead of changing what it displays, everything remains on the screen in a very light gray shade or white. The system is responsive, I can see the screen changing slightly after pressing some button or even using the touch pen. The battery was charged for a night and the problem remained. I also tried to reset and turn the device on and off several times. This is the first time it happened and I couldn't find any history of a similar problem happening to others. I tried to update the firmware, but with such a screen it is hard to say if the update was completed or not. ![]() |

did it fell down somewhen? Because to me, it looks like the screen is broken. I would do the following in order to limit the damage: - unscrew the casing - unplug the battery (maybe this already helps) - disconnect the e-ink screen "FFC" (flexible flat cable) then, put everything back to initial state and tell me if the problem still continues... if so, I would say: the screen is broken. or maybe the mainboard (but this happens rarely). The following posts should help you to disassemble your M92: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...01&postcount=5 https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...81&postcount=1 regards, eb00ker ![]() |

Hi eb00ker,
thank you for the advice. I broke an eink screen once and it did not look anything like this, that's why I was so surprised by the problem. Currently I don't have any instrument with me and I have never opened the M92 before, so I think I will wait a little for other suggestions. If I decide to open it I will write here about how it went. Thanks! |

it does not look like a broken screen. It is rather a damaged contact in the flat cable connecting the screen to the PCB. It would be a warranty case. Of course it is just a visual assumption. Let your vendor inspect the device. Last edited by Booxtor; 05-30-2014 at 04:34 AM. |

I've got the same thing with my M92 as well. Juki have you found the problem?
I've tried to detach battery and the screen cabels, but these actions did not bring the right picture back ![]() Please, let me know, if any bright ideas comes along. Thanks. |

Hi eugvor,
in the end I just sent the device back to the reseller and they repaired it for free, since the warranty was still valid. I am not sure what exactly was the problem, but everything has been good sice then. Sorry I can't be more helpful... |

Thanks, juki.
My warranty is out for more then a year now. But, I guess to send to the factory is the only way to fix it now. |
