Be sure to check out the Wiki There is quite a bit of language support. Be sure and click on the "more pages" at the bottom of the listing on the right.

Are you saying that KOReader actually modifies the ePub? Why would it need to do that? If it doesn't modify the ePub, then there's no reason to keep them separate from the database. If KOReader does modify the epub, then that needs to go as there is no reason to modify the ePub. ADE doesn't modify the ePub.

With some thousand books stored it is also good if nickel doesn't read them all, only the part which is read.

If you click on the arrow next to the page numbering, you should see a "Goto page.." box dropdown. Enter 94 and click on the "Go" button. In the second post of that page I have linked one of the OTA server addresses.

I don't remember if the 04-1166 version has the WiFi Icon in the bottom right corner of the menu or if it has the "Network" menu item. You may need to turn on the Wifi before trying the OTA update. To get the Wifi working at first, you need to use the stock Kobo settings to find and make an initial connection to the network that you wish to use.

Luck;
Ken

I am not saying that Koreader modifies epubs, any more than any other reader does, but that the Kobo software is very finicky and is easily "corrupted".

FUD: see here.

Is this strategy aimed at undermining Kobo's Nickel or Koreader?

If you put the ePub in a hidden directory, then you don't have a choice as to which software you use to read with. You have to use KOReader. Would it not be better to have a choice between KOReader and RMDSK? I can understand PDF, but ePub doesn't make sense to limit what software you can use.

Yes it does. One example is a 10k books library. Indexing can become a bit of a hassle.

Actually, as of now, it would be between Koreader and Coolreader as both can be set to see "hidden" files and folders, and both can be added to the list of readers that the Kobo devices (and the eink touchscreen Kindles) can use.

The Adobe Reader Mobile program could read "hidden" files if Kobo hadn't made it dependent upon the Kobo database and allowed it a way to select the file. You are correct though as far as you could put your library in a folder structure that all the readers (Acess, Adobe, koreader and Coolreader), but then all the files would be processed by Nickel, with those that Nickel accepts as good enough to be read by the Kobo software added to it's database. (For the most part you could still read the rejected files with Koreader or Coolreader.) Of course if the database gets corrupted, in the process, Nickel might make the device unusable.

Luck;
Ken

I'd rather use RMDSk then Coolreader. Coolreader is not very good (IMHO).

I have no big concern with the Nickel reader. I read some books in it, but it meant the database got corrupted every time. It was probably caused by the many highlighting and dictionary using I had. It even renders Hungarian opening quotation marks better, but because of constantly corrupt database, I still read on koreader.

First to do this i tried by myself (damned me! XD) to enable from ksm the wifi with dhcp and then from koreader, now when i try to enable wifi from network i get a block with the popup "Do you want to turn on Wifi?" with the ok button long pressed ...
Grrr

Is there a system to manual update both of them (koreader and ksm)?
