Why do giraffes have a too short neck? It's because their legs are so long that when bending down to drink, giraffes struggle, even when their legs are spread wide.

The length and path of the laryngeal nerve in a giraffe's neck has been used as an argument against Intelligent Design.

According to The Word Museum, a biblioklept is a book-thief; one who purloins or steals books.
(Are y'all getting tired of that introduction? I am a bit.) |

Linda Hunt won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Year of Living Dangerously (1982) at The 56th Annual Academy Awards (1984) on April 9, 1984. She played the role of Billy Kwan. A non white male role played by a white female actress. The amazement at the gender-crossing completely overshadowed the racial angle.

A bird-duffer is a dishonest dealer in birds who "makes up" his wares, either by painting the plumage of live birds, or by fabricating bird-skins, affixing false labels, etc., according to The Word Museum.

The Ancient Greeks claimed the sky was bronze as they had no word for blue. The Greeks never used colour to describe things. Homer believed that wine, the sea and sheep were red.

John Tyler, 10th president of the United States, had a son when he was 63. That son fathered two sons of his own when he was 71 and 75. Those two sons are still alive. In other words, a man who became president in 1841 has two living grandchildren.

Bleezed signifies the state of one on whom intoxicating liquor begins to operate. It especially denotes the change produced in the expression of the countenance, according to The Word Museum.
So bleezed is now tipsy! I think I prefer bleezed; it has a ring to it. |

The word custard has no equivalent in the French language. The closest the French can describe this dish is by calling it 'creme anglaise'.

According to The Word Museum, a blepharon is one who "hath great eyebrows. SEE man[-]browed"
Man-browed is "[h]aving hair growing between the eyebrows. Here it is deemed unlucky to meet a person thus marked, especially if the first one meets in the morning. Elsewhere, it is a favourable omen. The term, I suppose, had been primarily applied to a woman, as by this exuberance indicating something of a masculine character, having brows like a man. SEE blepharon" I used to have a unibrow... when I was a wee little girl. So I guess I was a blepharon and man-browed! lol EDIT: I think so, Crich. It makes sense...
