Is GTK lighter on battery than WebLaunch or similar?
I want to turn my kindle into an aquarium monitoring tool. I was wondering if WebLaunch and the like will be heavier on the battery than python gtk2.

Yes, using a native toolkit will definitely be lighter on resources than running a full-fledged web browser. How much that'll matter in this case, I don't know.

Yes I figured that, but was wonder if amazon put some battery-magic sause stuff into their webkit implementation.

I don't see why that would *that* big a difference. Webkit uses GTK anyway and nowadays, browser rendering engines and UI toolkit layout engines aren't working so different at all. Hopping your SoC core from idle to working, updating the display and most of all, using Wifi will eat your battery.
